Rey's breakout Texan performer of the week

TEXANS VS. BRONCOS

I'm predicting one INT for Kareem and one big hit on a receiver and overall tight coverage on the receivers.

I think the Broncos will continue their heavy use of the short passing game. That's Kareem's specialty. I'm not sure who he'll be matched up against but either way I expect him to step up big this week. This is his type of game. A team that's going to run the ball and utilize short and intermediate passes.

I understand what you're saying Rey, BUT, I expect KJ to get a couple hurtful PIs called on him. He still scares me. JMO! PM KNOWS his weaknessses and is smart enough to exploit them. I'm worried.

I'm hoping for a big game from Cushing and/or Holliday this week. I think our special teams are due to step up

Don't worry too much, She!

Manning couldn't exploit Kareem in his rookie year, why should he be able to do that now?
You must have forgotten that Jackson did play against Manning twice.
He was not the worst DB on the field either time.
Actually, IMO, he was the best DB on the field for the Texans in those two games.

I was thinking the opposite. I think he gets picked on and these replacement ref's will cave in to the home field advantage and call a homer game in front of a hostile crowd... Bottom line is I see lots of man coverage and Manning picking on Jackson more and JJ less.

After watching the Falcons push the middle of the Denver OL backwards and lot let Manning step up to throw , I'll go with JJ Watt on a bunch of stunts up the middle .

Keep Jackson on the right side of the field. Boom, problem solved. (Manning's right)

Ummmm, how could anyone go against "The All-Knowing Tonestradamus".... Looks like its going to be capri pants breaking out on the scene this week!

Well, when I was thinking breakout performer I am thinking of guys that haven't really had these type of performances on a regular basis...Trindon, Keyshaw, Jean, Newton, Bradie James, GQ...

Not that they have sucked, but I'm talking about making big momentum plays in addition to playing well all game long.

I think Kareem is due for a good game this week..

And honestly I can see Casey and/or Garret Grahm having big games. They'll probably be on the field a lot.

I wanted to pick Trindon, but I just couldn't pick him as my first choice. He scares me. Completely possible he has a TD or a bunch of good returns, but...yikes...

Will you eat your Texans hat on your webcam if you're wrong?

HAHA...

SWT should have lived up to that bet he made with himself...

Probably should have been the first sign that he wasn't a man of his word...Baddoom doom pish!

Still can't believe he did that...I thought he was a cool guy...

OK ... It could be Newton on Von Miller .

For the defense's sake, Bradie James. I mean, good grief, any sort of breakout would be better than what we've seen.

Breakout Texan performer of the week will be the Oxygen supply guy...going to be a lot of wind sucking going on and off the field. This guy will be the teams best friend.

With regard to the refs...they've been letting it get a little rough out there, so maybe we get away with some rough stuff on those quick slants. But, you can bet your bottom dollar that PM is going to be picking on KJ, and the 10 yarders over the middle. Hopefully the refs wont be star struck with PM and let them bend their ear for crappy flags every time we sack him. I won't stand for it...I'll go down on the field and give them a piece of my mind!

On the offense, I'd like Newton to have a great game. I'd like K-Mart to actually catch a pass or two that's thrown his way. And I'd kinda like to see Ben Jones get more playing time and play well.

On the defense, I gotta go with Brooks and Barwin. They haven't done much so far this year.

Good choices...lots of potential candidates out there...

My choice is Garrett Graham... I'd love for him to step up. Make the safeties respect the middle and not cheat onto AJ's side.

I think James Casey is going to catch a boatload of passes and surprise Broncos defenders with his ability to catch the ball out of a FB/HB spot.

Holliday will have both a return TD and a fumble.. Holliday giveth and taketh away.. LeStar Jean will also have a TD reception.

Holliday is an excellent choice, Texans will need him & special teams to play better if they are to come away from mile high with a win. But when I think of breakout performance it should be player with high expectations who hasn't yet delivered. Time for Texans 2012 1st rd. pick Whitney Mercilus to introduce himself to Manning & rest of NFL as the Texans new pass rush specialist. :d:

I'm witcha on Kareem, Rey...also with others on refs maybe roughing KJ up with pens...

I'll go with Key-Mart for breaking out...that is if he doesn't drop the TD pass on the first play from scrimmage...boot ala week 10 v. Tampa last year to Baltimore Jones...

Shocking that you would have this evaluation.

With CND's thread about PM having difficulties throwing to his right Jackson should have a good game. Or he could fall down again. He probably wont turn his head and look for the ball though. LOL

My breakout guy, Ben Jones

I'm calling for Holliday to be the breakout player of the game. He appeared to be over the first game jitters last week & made some solid returns. I'm predicting he'll return at least one (maybe two) for a touchdown & have several long returns to give the Texans great field position all day. I also predict he won't fumble at all.

As for the play of the day, I predict JJ, Cushing & Bawin will converge on the QB at the same time for a sack & knock Peyton out of the game.

Might as well go for the trifecta: Texans win 33-10.

I'm not buying the hype on Holliday. I think he's going to break down in a critical situation before long.

My pick for the Texans is Tate. He seems to be tougher to stop than Foster, which will be important in this game.

My breakout player for the Broncos is Dreessen. I expect Peyton to use the TE's quite a bit.

One of these games Holliday is going to break out, it might as well be this one. Even at that, I'm beginning to wonder about the logic of keeping him on the team as a one trick pony if he doesn't hurry up and show something.

If Holliday is going to get a return TD it is almost certainly going to have to come on a punt. With that thin air Denver will boot it through the End Zone on any kickoff unless there is a wind blowing heavy in one direction. We'll also have to stop them deep in their own territory to give him realistic opportunities. If they're punting from mid field most of the time then he'll be fair catching the whole game.

Why shocking?

You just need to go back and watch those two games against the Colts in 2010.

Some great choices in here...I could see several of these guys having good games.

I'm surprised Casey hasn't gotten more love here. With the broncos having great edge rushers kubiak will probably show a lot of two TE sets with some boot legs and stuff. Plus the broncos have been having trouble covering te's. Casey and Grahm could see quite a few favorable match ups.

I still like Kareem in this game though. Peyton has been below avg on long balls this year and the broncos have relied heavily on short passes. Im believe and hope Kareem Kareem can have a big impact in this game.

You have to wonder how much the Broncos and Manning are going to gameplan around the Watt swat. If they are forced to throw short, Watt comes into play even more.

My vote is Casey though for having a break out game. Denver's edge rush scares me and our right side of our line has yet to be tested. Casey seems to be a good target for Schaub to get the ball out quickly.
