A Coach Mustache team playing shady? Say it ain't so...
Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III took the St. Louis Rams to task for play that he deemed "unprofessional" and "dirty." "I don't want to tip-toe the lines of anything that's happened with bounties or anything like that, but they were definitely going after me," Griffin told reporters. "They made it a point, obviously, all week to hit me. Some of the shots were cheap of that nature." Shortly after Sunday's 31-28 loss, Redskins players spoke about how they felt replacement referees had lost control of the game, and allowed hits after the whistle, in some cases. "There was some extracurricular stuff going on after the plays," Griffin said. "They were doing a lot of dirty things. I still think they have an extremely good team, that doesn't take anything away from them, but the game was unprofessional. Who am I to talk? I've barely been a pro for very long, but from what I experienced against the Saints compared to that game, it was definitely unprofessional and it does need to be cleaned up." http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/201...2_a7&eref=sihp

Dude has a higher number in his name than he has in NFL experience.

Just having Innegan on the team instantly makes them the dirtiest team in the NFL. Might as well add Haynesworthless to complete it.

If he is going to say they were doing dirty things he should come out and directly say what they are doing, if not keep your mouth shut a little longer than your second game in the league

Anybody else think Fisher could be the guy to finally get that Rams franchise going? I think he's a good coach who was up against it for a long time with the Titans, when you don't even get to pick your own QB as an established coach, you can't really succeed, yet he still had the franchise around the playoffs most years.

Opening his mouth about it only means that more of it is coming.

Yep, if it was getting under his skin and distracting him, then for sure more of it is coming.

I remember the Steel Curtain. Hardest hitting and meanest defense of all time.
What I don't remember is opposing QBs whining about them...

Don't forget dirty as hell. Mel Blount was the dirtiest of them. You're absolutely right too, nobody moaned and complained about it because that wasn't the way of things back then.

RG3 wasn't whining. Read the entire quote. He was saying "they took shots at me and I showed I could handle it." I don't like the attitude that theres a place for dirty play in the NFL. "If you can't beat 'em, hurt 'em" is not a team I want to cheer for

"Play through the whistle" is a common mantra taught to little league and high school players. What do you think this implies? I'm not necessarily condoning it to recognize the history of this type of attitude in the sport. Players are ALWAYS going to try to get over on each other and get under the opponent's skin. It is naive to think that the middle of a dogpile will ever be anything but testosterone-fueled controlled-rage of extremely competitive athletes. I agree with you in high-minded principle, but I'm also pragmatic enough to realize that what fans think matters little in the heat of the moment. RGIII is naive if he thinks his own defense is a bunch of choir boys. |

About Pittsburgh, they were dirty and I wasn't defending it. All due respect to you when I say I guess you had to be there. Also it did add something to the game. Hatred like you ever see today. Sorry to say that added to the game. Again, you just had to experience the era firsthand to understand.

See sig (Orton circa Denver quote on the Titans circa Fisher).
May be time I update it, though. heh

RG3 needs to take a page from Matt Shaub's playbook on post-game interviews. Even after those bush league hits and losing part of his ear, you don't see Schaub complaining about dirty play.
