Years ago I cut my wrist while helping a friend with a remodel down in Galvatraz, severing 8 tendons, both arteries and 2 nerves. Needless to say, me and my right forearm were very happy a hand specialist happened to be on call that weekend. He saved my arm from having to be removed (wife even had to sign the paper to give them authority).
Anywho, the nerves never came all the way back. I have a good 75% of feel back, but hardly any motor skills at all (can't spread fingers out, hold small items, etc).

All that said, I learned what I could and could not do and adjusted. I can write again with it, throw a ball, lift weights, shake hands, etc.

He'll learn and he'll adjust as we began seeing in the 2nd half. He'll get his points. Will we?

*edit- Sorry for the story
Good post.....including the story. Yours is not one that is unusual. Everyday in life, we learn to adjust to our weaknesses. The point to my beginning this thread was to identify his weakness......and leave it out there to find ways of cutting off his routes of the "adjusting/compensating" that you have presented as being so important in your particular "recovery."

Yes sir, I doubt we'll be in a lot of 2 deep coverage this Sunday.

You nailed it, CnD...thinking back on the game i do remember him being weaker to his right...

Question: would his grip suffer from any of this?

No need to apologize. It was story that provided background for your point, which many posters neglect to do. Bravo +Rep

I think I can sum up what Doc was saying in a few words,

If the Texans hit Manning all day, not necessarily sack but hit him just as he releases the ball, Manning will get flustered. Go back and look at the last game the Texans played against Manning in Houston. Mario and company hit him relentlessly and it frustrated Manning...

Manning hates to get hit, which is why Watt, Smith Barwin and Brooks need to make sure they hit him either for the sack or just to let Manning know they are there...

This is what I posted on 8/25/11 when I found out that he had a C7 problem.:

But you aren’t ever going to look much better than a Pop Warner QB, with a bum triceps.
Furthermore, there are also lesser important contributions in the innervation of the wrist extensors and the pronator muscle.........a muscle which allows palm up to palm down twisting (pronating) of the wrist, a motion you may want to use to direct the ball outwardly to the right.

Could his condition regress?

I don't know that it regresses. But how much he improves if at all, as I've stated before, is not predictable. While he has nerves that are not functioning properly, the weakened muscles and any compensating muscles are likely to be exposed to overuse and progressive fatigue and therefore further weakening.

Thanks CnD...was talking with a coworker about his arm strength, and I suggested it could also be his grip based on what the ball did a few times...

Dare I say...

The lack of the real refs may help the Texans. We should be less likely
to see Manning treated like fine China, as we've been accustomed to
(i.e. the b.s. call a couple years ago against Antonio Smith for his
phantom hit on the helmet of Peyton.)

I hope Peyton's got an extra bottle of Icy Hot in his medicine cabinet,
cause his neck is gonna be hurtin.'

Actually, I think it's exactly the opposite. With these replacement refs, the hometeams are getting more of the calls.

I could see where Peyton was really "throwing his head" left trying to get more zip on the ball ..... and it came out weak. At this point, he can't throw it anymore imo.

An obvious weakness that Doc missed is the poorly fitting helmet. The Denver fans need to take up a collection and get poor Peyton a helmet that doesn't constrict the blood flow to his fivehead.
