I'm pissed off as well and sent an strongly worded but respectful email to Mack Rhoades for what its worth.

The coaching staff did not have the team prepared and Piland was bewildered and lost the entire game. LA Tech is a much better team than Tx. St. I don't know how we are going to hold up against them. Levine and Nesbitt need to get their **** together quick.

I graduated from both schools, it was a win-win for me. I will say this, you cannot and I mean cannot discount Coach Fran. UH got out coached and the players looked like they got punched in the gut. I think the Cougars thought that they were going to just steamroll the Bobcats.

I have always respected Coach Fran's offensive mind. He got messed up in colleyville because he never found anyone to take care of the defense like Patterson did at TCU. I was afraid his option game would keep it close but I never thought they would hold UH to 13 points I don't care if Helen Hunt was at QB.

This coaching staff and players has some serious problems to fix before LA Tech next saturday.

Well Mack Rhoades responded to my email I sent him this morning. I'm sure it was the same response he gave to all the other emails I'm sure he has received.

He's upset and disappointed as all Cougars are but is confident in Levine. He is especially upset with the defense.

Are we not even on Texas State's level? That was quite a disappointing game on Saturday Night but you have to give Dennis Franchione a lot of credit. He'll lead Texas State to a bowl game sooner rather than later. And we're stuck with a mediocre head coach in Houston. I sure do miss Art Briles and Kevin Sumlin.

Houston offensive coordinator resigns after upset loss

University of Houston offensive coordinator Mike Nesbitt resigned on Monday, two days after the Cougars' upset loss to Texas State.

"We wise Mike the best in his future endeavors and thank him for his contributions to the program," coach Tony Levine announced Monday.

Assistant coach Travis Bush will call plays and had spent the previous three seasons as co-offensive coordinator at Texas State.

Houston scored 13 points in Saturday's loss, tied for the second-fewest in a game since 2007.

Levine replaced Kevin Sumlin, who guided Houston to a 12-1 record and TicketCity Bowl victory last season. Houston finished the 2011 season ranked 18th in the AP poll

Man, Nesbitt has a one game career as UH OC.......a record opening day crowd, Texas State in the house, big expectations for the season, and a 17 point loss that you were never really in the game after halftime. I am not saying it is all Nesbitts fault, but SOMETHING had to be done, head coach isn't going to fire himself, the defense did adjust at halftime and only gave up 3 points in the second half. If UH does not win 7 games and get a bowl bid, this is not a successful season.

I'm not saying this because the guy just got fired, but I was never really happy with Levine's pick of Nesbitt. Levine said he picked the guy based on stats from the games he was involved in.

Not that UH is "BIG TIME" football....... but look at Nesbitts resume, the BEST he has was at Blinn Junior College and SFA, he has NEVER been at a school coaching in major D-I, he was a PUNTER in college, not like he was involved in high tech game plan and film watching when he was a player at New Mexico.

They went cheap on every hire since Mack was hired. This one bit them square in the ass instantly and now they are trying to save face. They better show some serious improvement come saturday or its really going to get ugly.

I am serious, I think this season could become one of the worst in a long time. I honestly can't say anything good about what I saw from the opening kickoff till the gun went off other than Larry McDuffy making the great run after catch early in the game. UH had soooooo much momentum coming into this season, it took them a long time to get, they cant screw this season up!

UH QB cannot get drafted & is re-assigned to PS. If UH wants to matter going forward it needs to commit to a pro style offense that gives players chance to succeed in NFL, then high school standouts will want to come here.

I actually sent an email to Mack Rhoades, the AD at UH. It was strongly worded but very respectful. The next thing I know, the OC is strongly urged to resign and is gone the very next day.

Rhodes did return my email within a few hours and expressed his agreement with my disgust and thanked me for my support.

We tried that once and it was an utter fail. Thanks but no thanks. Its whomever the coach is at UH's job is to win games not prepare players for the pros. We can't recruit the top level talent it takes to run a pro set. When UH has been successful its because we have used an offense that equalizes the talent when we play more talented teams.
