Owens agrees to deal with Seahawks

Congratulations, Seahawks fans. Or, as the case may be, condolences.

The appropriate “C” word won’t be known for a while. For now, what is known is that receiver Terrell Owens has agreed to terms with Seattle, according to Jay Glazer of FOX.

Per Glazer, it’s a one-year deal.

Owens spent the 2011 season out of the NFL, after tearing an ACL during the lockout. Earlier this year, he played for the Allen Wrangler of the Indoor Football League, leaving as he often seems to do in a haze of controversy.

Barring a deal with Golden Tate, who wears No. 81, the only number currently available for Owens is 84.

Owens returns to the NFC West, where his career started with the 49ers. He also has played for the Eagles, Cowboys, Bill, and Bengals.

I'm actually glad to see T.O. back in the league. He's hit rock bottom with his finances and baby mama drama, and I hate to see anyone in that situation. Hopefully he can have a good season. Should I get my popcorn ready?

I really hate TO Texn4life, but for some strange reason I was sort of happy to hear that he got a chance with the Hawks. Mainly because I think that he can still play at least well enough to be a solid #2. I can't blame teams for not wanting to sign his drama filled ass though. His lack of teams wanting him are all on him. You and I argued about Chad a while back, but even with a year off, and a surgery I feel like TO could probably still go out there and make enough plays to be a solid #2. I could be wrong since at his age a player's skills can drop off tremendously, but one thing about TO is that the guy will work his ass off and he is a physical freak. I won't say that I want to see him have success, but I do think that they should give him the opportunity to make plays if he makes the team.

Desperate times call for desperate measures. It don't matter though, the 49ers will be reigning in that division for the next few years, no one else is even close to challenging them. Enjoy the TO show Hawks fans, his fingers are the closest you will be to a Super Bowl ring for the next decade.

I hate the way he's acted as a teammate at times in his career, but he's one of the best receivers to ever lace em' up. You're right that no one knows what he really has left, but if he's even 85 percent of what he was I think its enough for him to make a positive impact of the field for them. Its a safe gamble to me. Its a one year contract knowing he's gonna be on his best behavior trying continue his playing career beyond this season. And like you said you know you're getting a hard worker if you're Seattle.

TO's "best behavior" only lasts so long, regardless of his situation. He's already proven that. I was having this discussion with someone at work. Maybe he won't blow up after the first, second, or even third loss where he feels he's not getting enough looks, but at some point during the season, he's going to get fed up with losing and explode, if he feels he's not being targeted enough.

If he could get out of his own way, I'd be one of the first in line to say "we should sign him", but he's proven many times over that he can't do that. And the last three times it's been "man, he sure looks like he's turned his attitude around". Yet, invariably, we always end up seeing the same ol', same ol' from him.

At this age though, with the surgery and the added age he might have just lost it all. If there is anyone that I'd have confidence in though it's TO as far as physicality. With his current financial problems smart money says he behaves and does what he is told. But with TO, there is no "smart" or even "common sense." He might even need to be a #3, but Seattle hasn't had anyone really step it up and be that #1 or #2 guy. They have Golden Tate who has been a disappointment and Mike Williams who was a one year wonder a year ago, and that's it really. Williams will probably be cut. They have a bad QB in Jackson as well. They need an upgraded RB big time. Pet Carroll has his hands full with this bunch, and he will only have two more years to turn this thing around.

Mike Williams was already cut before camp I believe, and also they do have Sidney Rice but he's re-defined the "injury prone" label.

There's always the possibility it could turn ugly. You're absolutely right there. I think Carroll is banking that he realizes there is no next chance if he messes it up there. From all accounts in Buffalo and Cincinnati he was a good teammate so we'll see.

They've already waived Williams. They have Sydney Rice, a young kid Baldwin who had a hell of a year, Tate, TO, and they just signed Braylon Edwards if I remember right. It seems like a weid collection of receivers. They brought in Antonio Bryant in the offseason but have already cut him too. I don't know what he has left in the tank though. He'll play his butt off trying to prove himself though i'm sure.

Seems like they are taking the opposite approach to the Texans and are signing just about every at least halfway big name out of work WR except Plax.

They're definitely taking some chances. I honestly don't see how TO and Braylon can play on the same team together. They have 3 younger receivers and those 2 guys. Have a feeling 1 of them won't make it to opening day.

Hahaha, Braylon was actually relaible catching the ball for the Jets in his time there for the most part. Thats just a lot of ego to be on the same team battling for a limited amount of catches.

That's what they said about his stints with Buffalo, Cincinnati, and the Austin Wranglers. That being said, at 38, might as well be his last run unless he continues running 4.5 40s into his early 40s.

Oh please. I'm not a TO fan, but you are spewing empty Skip Bayless rhetoric. TO was by all accounts a model citizen in Buffalo and Cincy.

And in case you all forgot, in 2010 he had 72 catches for 983 yards and 9 touchdowns. He was not resigned in Cincy because they saw no point in paying him to be on a non-contender that should be developing young talent. And he hasn't gotten another chance because of his early-career antics.

I have no idea how TO plays nowadays, but I'm sure he's at least a faster/stronger version of Kevin Walter with better hands. And sure, the 49ers are everyone's favorite to take the NFCWest, but Seattle is no slouch. Their defense is young and impressive, especially their secondary. If they could actually score some points they could hang with anybody.

I know the guy is a bonehead .... but there is little doubt in my mind that he is can still play at a very high level. I dont balme the SeaBirds for taking a shot on the guy ....

I know its probably not a popular line of thinking but I would have liked the Texans to have at least brought him in .... I mean they brought in a couple scrubs in Roy Williams and Bryant Johnson.

Considering that the only recievers on this roster with an NFL catch are AJ and KW .... the thought has crossed my mind on more than one occasion.
