Cushing is not re-signed early and is addressed 2013. However any money saved in first group of FA re-signed should be used to negotiate early with Cush.

It appears you are using averaged over the lifetime of the contract's total value numbers. The numbers in the early years of the contracts will be lower.

FYI - Schaub's cap hit this year is basically $1 mil from original signing bonus, $3.33 mil from option bonus, $7.7 mil in salary and roster bonus this spring = $12.03 mil

When he originally signed there was a signing bonus of $7 mil on a potential 7 year contract - prorates to $1 mil per year.

After year 4 he received an option bonus of $10 mil with 3 years remaining - prorates to $3.33 mil per year.

This year he received a $500k roster bonus in March and I assume will receive his $50k workout bonus.

Then base salary of $7.15 mil.

I didn't plan on hounding you about your draft mania.

Uh, that is one of my sources:
3/21/2007: Signed a six-year, $48 million contract. The deal included a $7 million signing bonus and a $10 million option in the fourth season. 2012: $7.15 million (+ $500,000 roster bonus due 3/17 + $50,000 workout bonus), 2013: Free Agent

FYI, my understanding is the $10 million was not prorated but paid and counted against cap year he received it.
