Don't get me wrong, Loiseau is a Texan and he's now one of my guys. But that story sounds suspicious to me.

When I first heard it, the story was that some gang members attacked Loiseau's father with pipes and Loiseau put one of them in a coma and got blamed for the whole thing. Now, the story is that Loiseau came home from the gym, some gang members started talking smack, then his dad started talking smack, then a gang member hit Loiseau in the head with a pipe and Loiseau put him into a coma and got charged with using the ground as a weapon. Could be the same story just with more detail. But either way, it's not the whole story.

We don't know what the real facts were. I'd like to hear what the cops on the scene had to say about it.
One thing that is curious to me: How could Loiseau properly maintain consciousness while two guys with a pipe and a crowbar are attacking him?

I mean, it's one thing to overcome a guy with a pipe. It's another thing if he's got a buddy who is wielding a crowbar. Either Loiseau is The Crow (Loiseau means "bird" by the way) or he had more than just a fist and the ground as his allies.

Oh well. He's in the clear NOW. As was Braman when he came to the Texans. Here's to hoping that both guys do damage to opposing teams.

Exactly. One unarmed high school kid going against two armed gang bangers? And he just gets a couple of stitches? They must have puh-cee gang bangers where he lives. And his dad must be a bad-ass, too.

Something's fishy about that tale.

Most gang-bangers are "puh-cees". That is why they're in a gang, so they "feel" tough... Wannabees is probably all they were... A real gang-banger would probably have been packing...

So I'm betting that Mercilus is easily 3 or 4 inches taller than Loiseau. Proportions between major joints in the arms and legs tells the story here, IMO. Loiseau is naturally the shorter/stockier guy of the two.

Also, it's funny to see #59 and #90 walking beside each other and it's not DeMeco and Mario.
My boss just pointed out that Mercilus is mid stride, while Loiseau is almost standing straight up.

Then he told me to get back to work.

That's the guy that got coma'd? He looks hardcore. Not.
A local newspaper's report on the story at the time.

Quote:
The 17-year-old Shrewsbury High School senior severely injured in an off-campus fight with another high school student earlier this month was recently released from the hospital and has started rehabilitation.

According to a hospital spokeswoman, Eric Lequillo, of 51 Shirley Road, was discharged from UMass Memorial Medical Center’s University Campus May 11, more than a week after being admitted for a serious head injury.

Lequillo was hurt during a fight with 17-year-old, Shawn Loiseau, of 7 Norton Way. Loiseau is a junior at Shrewsbury High.

The fight took place at approximately 9 p.m. on May 2 near Loiseau’s home, according to police.

As a result of the incident, Loiseau was arrested and charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, the ground. He was arraigned in Westborough District Court May 3.

In a recent interview, Shawn’s father, Paul Loiseau, talked about the incident, which both he and his wife Denise witnessed.

According to the father’s account, the fight began after his son drove home on the narrow and curvy Edgemere Drive. Shawn was traveling behind a car carrying Lequillo and at least one other individual, Paul said.

Upon arriving at Norton Way, Paul said Lequillo and another man started yelling at Shawn for driving with his high beams on.

Contrary to a previous report, Lequillo does not live on Norton Way and was apparently visiting a neighbor of the Loiseau family.

After the shouting incident, Shawn went inside his house and called Levine in an attempt to see what the problem was, at which point Lequillo got on the phone and said to meet him outside, Paul Loiseau said.

When Shawn went out, Paul followed and saw Lequillo and the other man had weapons in their hands -- one with a pipe the other had a type of piano tool – he said.

According to Paul, he tried to prevent a fight, but at one point he turned his back and heard a crack. He turned back around to see his son down on one knee with blood pouring down his face.

“They hit him first with the pipe,” Paul said.

After his son was allegedly hit with the pipe, Paul went to break up the fight but stumbled and fell down a small embankment.

When he got up, he claims he saw his son grab Lequillo while being beaten from behind by the other man. The three then fell onto the neighbor’s walkway with Lequillo on the bottom.

“I think the damage done to the other kid happened when the three of them fell,” said Paul.

Police subsequently arrived to the scene, and both Lequillo and Shawn were transported to the hospital. Denise Loiseau said she was the first to call 911.

Shawn needed approximately 28 stitches to close the wound on his head, according to Paul. After being treated, Shawn was arrested by Shrewsbury Police.

“It’s just a terrible thing, we’re all sick about it,” Paul said. “It was his first fight, he’s never been in trouble.”

Paul bailed his son out of jail for $5,000 cash 12 hours later.
Shawn is currently being excluded from school under Massachusetts’ state law 37H 1/2 as a result of the incident, according to principal Brian Reagan.

Lequillo’s father Rodney, declined to comment on the fight or his son’s injuries, but said the facts would come out in court.

Worcester County District Attorney Joseph Early’s office will be prosecuting the case.

The police report and all documents relating to the events of May 2 have been sealed from the public.

Shrewsbury police and State police are still investigating the case and Loiseau is scheduled to appear for a pretrial hearing June 19

Considering it was in Massachusetts I think it's a fair assumption that they probably have "puh-cee" gangbangers.

There were very few gang-bangers I would have messed with back in Compton. I don't care how big or small they were. The small ones had guns. And if you messed with 1 gang-banger, you messed with the entire gang.

From what I can see, these were just a bunch of kids talking smack and it got out of control.

Don't know anything about gangs and "gangbangers" but if Lequillo was in a gang, it seems he would most likely have a police record. And, even if he weren't in a gang, I wonder if he had a record before the incident.

Anyway, I'm hoping Shawn can put this all behind him and become an outstanding NFL Football player for the Texans!

This is undeniably at least half true. I don't know much about the Texan judicial system outside of their notoriously liberal use of capital punishment but I go to school in Springfield, Mass and there is definitely something in the water up here. I wouldn't be surprised if this is an accurate account of what happened. Having said that I also wouldn't be surprised there was more fault on Loiseau than this report might suggest. There's a reason Mass residents are referred to as Mass-holes. Just saying.

Even if he started the fight, he was proposing fisticuffs. Lead pipe? What gang is that the Col. Mustard crew? Sounds like a meat head and some kid with baggy pants got into it and things got out of control. I picked this guy in one of my mocks as a 7th, happy to see him get a chance to make it as a pro since the state stuck it to him with a felony.

I'll say Mercilus is 6'3'' with long arms and Loiseau is 6'1'' and looks like a truck.

I like a guy that can take a lead pipe to the mellon and get 27 stitches (or whatever it was) and still whoop a$$!!!

That said, 20 years down the road when he joins the class-action lawsuit by ex-players against the NFL for head injuries, the NFL has a plausible defense.
