The Tampa Bay Bucs owner today bought a 70% stake in Manchester United fc (soccer) and has made an offer for the club of approx $1.5billion. This has caused mass protest and even some arrests in England - what do you guys think of the move? He did a good job for the Bucs but Man Utd are already the biggest soccer club in the world!

I think its a business decision and from that standpoint you can't buy a bette franchise sporting that is in the world. They are the Yankees of Soccer worldwide. I think sports wise well I'm not sold on the glazers as have done a great job with the bucs. Maybe if the bucs were doing well i'd be more ok with it but if u can't get this one here at home straight why are u going off to get another?

The ManU fans have their knickers all in a wad over a yank owning the team. Could be a good deal of backlash coming.

Now usually i dont walk around with patriotism on my chest but in this case .....i'd smack a brit. They let a russian buy the chelsea football club for 700 million and we can't buy one?
Of course now that said and me coming back to rationale....I'd like to see american reaction of say the crown prince of saudia arabia buying controlling interest of the yankees or the green bay packers even and see how that goes over. |

One of the few news clips I caught last week... He's got the money. It's a great business deal. Soccer is growing. He bought the best of the best soccer organizations. I say good for him.

By the way, do you guys know the England football (soccer) team are playing some games in the USA this month - at Soldier Field and Giants' Stadium (i think). Although quite a few of the top players won't be there messieurs Owen and Beckham will be. Anyone making the trip?
