Just going through the normal threads that have been there for a few days. I don't think anyone has brought it up, so I will ask the question. Is there any chance that GW could be released after June 1. I know he is eating up alot of money and his production is questionable. With TJ being drafted , and plus with all of the big money contracts we have been releasing I think it might be a possibilty. I really don't know too much about cap penalties if we would release him. Personally I hope we retain him, but he has been talking too much for my taste at the end of the year last yr. What do you guys have to say about that?

I dont think so. I think it is worth it to the Texans to keep him around for a year or two, and get something, anything out of the guy, rather than cut him, and still pay out huge amounts of money.
Johnson is a rookie. He will rotate in and learn the tricks of the trade. I see Walker at least staying this year. Next year might be a different story if he has another year like this one.

Gary got an 11million dollar signing bonus last year. And I believe, if you release him after June 1st, he will also be on the books next year.
Gary's coming to play this season and it has shown: he's added some serious bulk in the offseason. |

We will keep him for this season and next because his cap hit would be more than his salary each of the next two seasons if we cut him. I could see us cutting him prior to the 2007 season though.

if you look at who we have cut, we have had players with experience that have been able to replace them... Buchanon replacing DROB replacing glenn.... and Wong and Greenwood replacing Foreman and Sharper.. and Glenn Earl was already the starting Safety so releasing brown was no big deal... if we released walker, TJ would be replacing him, and TJ doesnt have the experience yet that the organization would like him to have

And I still don't see why people think Johnson can't beat out Walker for that position People act like the coaches are just giving Walker the position with no worries or something ![]() Competition will be heating for positions in training camp and that sounds like a good thing to me

Walker won't be cut because it would cost more to cut him than to let him play. I'm one of the few here who supports him and think he can still play.

I think he can play too. But, he does need to rebound from last year, when he was not very good. I think and hope he and Seth can somehow find the fountain of youth, because if so, we will have a very stout line. Walker, Payne, and Smith as the starting group, with heavy doses of TJ, and Deloach. I like it!

Walker's going to be fine, I just worry that most of the people I talk to about the Texans won't know what they're seeing when it happens.

Nice to hear that Walker is working to have a great year and packed on some muscle. Has anyone heard how Deloach, Sears and Ioane are looking and if they improved? Or have we seen the best that group has to offer? |

I'd do a happy dance if they let Walker go. They were crazy to sign him to such a huge contract.

Walker has already shown that he can play in a 3-4 and play well. TJ has not, this may be a bad example but look at Sapp, he was one of the greatest DT to play the game and when he played in the Raiders 3-4 he got owned.

What? I would not say that Sapp was one of the greatest maybe one of the most vocal.

sapp was good, real good... probably a HofF, but one of the greatest ever, i dunno... i would put reggie white way ahead of sapp, so would anyone... sapp is made more notable cuz he does talk alot, and it just brings more attention to him, so when you think of linemen, you always think sapp... plus how is it that one of sapps most notable plays, doesnt even come on defense, it comes on him dancing or whatever you want to call what he did, after he caught a TD pass
