What do you think of Tod McShay's top 32 players in the 2012 draft?

Tannehill is not close to the #13 player in this draft. At all.
Now, he may very well get drafted in the top 15. But that doesn't mean he is one of the 15 best players. It just means that a team is wasting a first round pick on a second round QB. |

Never been a fan of McShay's "scouting". Two guys he is underrating are SoCal DE/OLB Nick Perry and South Carolina CB Stephon Gilmore, both easy 1st round picks.

He's off his rocker... No way in hell would Blackmon make it past Jacksonville's pick. And he wouldn't make it to their pick to begin with.

When I look at a top 32, or just player rankings, I don't consider draft position or team needs.

McShay hasn't updated his mock to include the Rams/Skins trade.

Got it, thanks for posting. MSR
McShay's Big Board: 1 Andrew Luck * QB Analysis: Luck nailed his pro day workout, making all the NFL throws and quieting concerns about his arm strength, and there is no doubt that he is the top prospect on the board. Previously: 1 2 Robert Griffin III * QB Analysis: Griffin also impressed at his pro day, and his physical tools and impressive intangibles make him a lock to be the No. 2 overall pick to the Redskins. Previously: 2 3 Matt Kalil* OT Analysis: Kalil's combination of size, balance, light feet and finishing ability make him one of the best tackle prospects I have evaluated in my time as a scout. Previously: 3 4 Morris Claiborne * CB Analysis: Hands-down the top cover corner in the nation. Claiborne's size, speed, fluid hips and impressive ball skills were on display at the combine and further cemented his place among the top 10 picks. Previously: 4 5 Trent Richardson * RB Analysis: A rare combination of size, speed, power, balance and vision make him the most complete running back prospect since Adrian Peterson in 2007. Previously: 5 6 Justin Blackmon * WR Analysis: Blackmon is clearly the top wideout on the board, and his hands, route-running and physical style will make him a top playmaker at the next level. Previously: 6 7 Luke Kuechly * ILB Analysis: Kuechly has proved his athleticism, and he has elite instincts and production. Combined, these traits make him a top-15 pick. Previously: 8 8 Ryan Tannehill QB Analysis: Tannehill's upcoming pro day will be his first showcase for scouts since surgery on a broken foot, but his physical tools are outstanding and he has all kinds of potential. He is raw but could still be a top-10 pick. Previously: 13 9 Quinton Coples DE Analysis: Coples took some heat for what some saw as an inconsistent motor in 2011, but film shows he was better in that area than we first thought. He has size, speed and burst, and projects as an immediate starter in either a three- or four-man front. Previously: 7 10 Dontari Poe * DT Analysis: Poe's incredible combine workout sent him shooting up the board, and his athleticism and versatility have kept him on the edge of the top 10 in recent weeks. Previously: 11 11 Melvin Ingram DE Analysis: Ingram showed off impressive explosiveness and change-of-direction skills at the combine, and when you throw in his quickness and power, he is a potential top-10 pick who could also play outside linebacker in a 3-4. Previously: 9 12 David DeCastro * G Analysis: DeCastro is a physical, dominating presence in the middle and a Day 1 starter in the NFL. He'll immediately be one of the best guards in the league and remain so for years to come. Previously: 12 13 Mark Barron S Analysis: Barron hopes to show at his pro day that he is fully recovered from recent hernia surgery, but he is still the most complete and versatile safety in the 2012 class. Previously: 10 14 Michael Brockers * DT Analysis: Brockers has the size and power to dominate the point of attack; he also has upside as a pass-rusher and plenty of overall potential. Previously: 14 15 Riley Reiff* OT Analysis: Reiff is technically sound, with the ability to slide and mirror defenders in pass protection. He isn't overwhelming in the running game, but he is solid and consistent overall. Previously: 15 16 Fletcher Cox* TE Analysis: Cox's speed, quickness and agility were on display at the combine, and he has cemented his status as a top-three defensive tackle. Previously: 19 17 Courtney Upshaw OLB Analysis: Upshaw has the ability to play outside linebacker in a 3-4 or end in a 4-3, thanks to power and strength at the point of attack and finishing ability as a pass-rusher. Previously: 17 18 Michael Floyd WR Analysis: Floyd has answered the speed question, and with his elite downfield ball skills he is solidifying himself as the No. 2 receiver on the board. Previously: 21 19 Cordy Glenn G Analysis: Glenn's size, power and athleticism make him a first-round guard prospect and also give him the potential to develop into a right tackle in the NFL. Previously: 30 20 Dont'a Hightower * ILB Analysis: Hightower showed impressive mobility for his size at the combine, and he is a strong, physical defender who knows how to control the inside against the run. Previously: 26 21 Janoris Jenkins CB Analysis: Jenkins is the second-best cover corner on the board and his physical tools are worthy of a first-round grade, but he is slipping because of character baggage. Previously: 16 22 Andre Branch DE Analysis: It is clear that Branch possesses athleticism, quickness, a great motor, the ability to play in space and bend as an edge rusher. He is squarely in the first-round mix. Previously: 20 23 Whitney Mercilus * DE Analysis: Mercilus isn't the greatest athlete, but he can get into the backfield and disrupt plays, and he led the nation with nine forced fumbles in 2011. Previously: 22 24 Stephon Gilmore * CB Analysis: Gilmore's combination of size and speed, impressive footwork, ability to track the ball well and strength in run support have him rising up the board. Previously: 23 25 Kendall Wright WR Analysis: Wright's pro day workout (mid-4.4s in the 40-yard dash) confirmed his speed, and his ability to make plays after the catch have him in the first-round mix. Previously: 27 26 Dre Kirkpatrick * CB Analysis: Kirkpatrick's short arms and questionable ball skills limit him in man coverage, but he's solid in zone coverage and physical in run support. Previously: 18 27 Jonathan Martin * OT Analysis: Martin needs to add strength and become more dominant, but he has the physical tools to develop into a starter at the next level. Previously: 24 28 Chandler Jones * DE Analysis: Jones is perhaps the most underrated prospect in the 2012 class. His size, strength, ability to bend the edge and rare length give him impressive potential as a pass-rusher. Previously: 25 29 Mike Adams OT Analysis: Adams has a massive frame and moves easily for his size, and although he doesn't play with as much of an edge as you'd like, he has the tools to emerge as a starter at the next level. Previously: 32 30 Lavonte David OLB Analysis: David has tremendous range against the run, changes directions easily and is a sound tackler. One of the best pure football players in the draft. Previously: Unranked 31 Stephen Hill* WR Analysis: Hill is raw and comes from a triple-option system, but he is productive and has outstanding physical tools that give him plenty of upside. Previously: Unranked 32 Coby Fleener TE Analysis: Fleener's pro day workout confirmed his speed, and with his hands, run-after-catch ability and potential as a blocker he is the most complete tight end on the board. Previously: Unranked (1.Colts2.Rams3.Vikings4.Browns5.Buccaneers6.Redsk ins7.Jaguars8.Dolphins 9.Panthers10.Bills11.Chiefs12.Seahawks13.Cardinals 14.Cowboys15.Eagles16.Jets17.Bengals18.Chargers19.
