Great find of his history that most of us don't know about. Makes you really appreciate life, and the things that Antwan had to go through growing up.
Its a really long article written when he was in college, but extremely worth the read. Makes me have a new respect for him and his accomplishments. ![]() "Out of Chaos" Last edited by TEXANS84; 05-05-2005 at 04:30 PM. |

Thank you so much for this story link. I think sometimes we all forget that our Texans are humans just like all of us, and they have stories, and history that is unique like everyone of us too.
A very good read. Thanks Gary |

Wow. What a great guy. I think he's my new hero on the Texans. I can't even imagine having to overcome that kind of adversity, much less surviving it and becoming a good person full of love and free of bitterness.

you know this was a great story...in a time when sports is flooded with negative stories of contract holdouts, players and coaches fueding, contact with referees, and drugs...this is a story to remind us that players are people and not all of them are using drugs and steriods...some of them are using their past as motivation to better themselves and those who matter the most to them...congrates to antwan peek for overcoming the odds and being the man he is today

Here's a cool photo of Peek.
Paste this into your browser, scroll down to the bottom of the page: http://www.nationalchamps.net/NCAA/2...cincinnati.htm The poor QB has NO clue that he's about to get cracked. Last edited by GP; 05-06-2005 at 04:24 PM. Reason: Needed to tell people to scroll down to see photo |

This reminds me very much of the Antwoine Fisher story, which was a great movie. I highly recommend it for those who haven't seen it. I hope he is not sharing his newfound wealth with his Mother, who doesn't seem to deserve it. I hope he bought Carolyn a nice house, and I am glad to see his Father has straightened himself out.
The best quote was from Carolyn: “A woman can't teach a boy to be a man.” Truer words were never spoken. Not to make this political, but that's why a boy needs a two parent household if at all possible, or at least a strong male influence, which his coach probably provided. Antwaan is one of the lucky ones. There are many others who were left behind because they didn't have an "Aunt Carolyn" to look out for them. BTW - Did anyone else think to themselves how big his cousion would be as an adult? That was really sad. At age 13, Reesie was 6-foot-3 and had size-15 1/2 feet. He weighed 275 pounds. How would the Peek cousins have looked on our defense. Reesie on the Dline, taking on two blockers, to free his cousin to make the QB sack.

I think I see where the intensity comes from. Remember what TJ said about not being able to stop a bull until it's dead? Well we have another bull in the herd. This is no longer a Steel Blue Wrecking Crew, this is a dang stampede waiting to happen.
