When I think about the "all-decade #2 WR", it really illustrates how crappy we've been at that position. That is a need that MUST be addressed this offseason.

Even though I quoted DocBar on this, it is not really aimed at him, he was just the last I saw to reference the production on other teams thing. Anyway, the link above are Gaffney's stats. He actually (yardage wise at least) was just as good or better for us than he was for the Pats. He did not get much more till he went to the broncos and now redskins (who really lacked WRs).

I would argue he did enough for us to at least make a run at a backup #2 WR slot. Outside of AJ and Walter, who have we had that has done more at WR?

Also, on Babin, that guy is really over rated. He is obviously a pass rushing force, but half of that has come from playing the wide nine. Not only does it put him out of the way for run stuffing, but he could care less about stopping the run anyway, all he wants is sack stats. It drives me insane with ends refuse to play the run

I kept it in line with what the Texans did this year (link on OP)
I know it is debatable, but I thought Keep Vickers and move Casey to TE (you could still work mismatches at times)

added mine it bold.. sadly we have had a very weak group of WR's over the years minus AJ
if the stats I looked up was right Eric Moulds had 57 catches for 554 yards in 2006



Also made me think of if Fred Bennett would have benefited with this coaching staff and front 7 and aid in his development

Threads like this make me wonder how much we're overrating the hell out of Charles Spencer.. We're talking about a 3rd round pick here who only played... count em' 2 games in his entire career.. and you have posters like Scooter putting him ahead of Duane Brown on his "all decade" team. (Speaking of which.. how does Casey even make the list at FB? He's done nothing at FB to really speak of thus far. Leach, Norris, and Vickers are all ahead of him right now.)

Look, I have no doubt that if he was able to stay healthy, Spencer would've been a good player.. but the ability to withstand injury and stay healthy is also what makes you a good player and the fact that he was only able to play 2 games in this league means nobody knows for sure what type of player he would've been. Charles Spencer might as well be named Bill Brasky around here and he's turning into a local legend.. In part by, because we were so hungry for a quality tackle at the time that once we finally saw a player that had a remote hint of ability we all gravitated towards him and declared him "the shit". With only playing 2 games the sample size is WAY too small and Charles Spencer could've easily been a bust as he could've been a boom in this league. He has no place on this "all decade" team and I'd put Ephraim Salaam ahead of him. If you want to start a "what could've been" all decade team, then by all means.. throw him up there.

I threw Gaffney's name into the mix because it wasn't his fault that he played with a guy who couldn't get him the ball. Dude could catch - had a 55 reception year when we went 2-14 and 40+ receptions the year before. I often wonder what he could have done with Schaub.
