Default Discount Double Choke


We were down at the Lavaca St Bar and the place was full of Packers fans. There was a short girl (Giants fan) standing on her chair doing the "Discount Double Check" to Packers fans as they were leaving the bar. It was hilarious.

Think Packers fans are going to hate seeing those commericals now through the Super Bowl?

That's interesting to me. I was aware that there were large numbers of Texans, Cowboys and Titans fans as well as you being a Giants fan. Is it because of the number of people transferred to Austin that it can be a city that all 32 teams represent in large numbers?

austin in full of transplants but for whatever reason lavaca st brings in the cheeseheads. there were always watch parties for the badgers during the college season. just another reason to drink at the ginger man.

Oh yeah, Austin is huge now and full of transplants from all over the place. I think there are large watching groups for many NFL teams around Austin. The Saints have several as well as the Steelers.

My new neighborhood has a Packer fan meetup group. For the playoffs I've been hopping over to a new bar south of Seattle. $8 all-you-can-eat blueberry pancakes mmmm..... I'll be back next week, if just for the pancakes. LOL

Yeah, it's been that way since I got here in '83. I don't know if it's still there, but at Showplace Lanes bowling alley on I-35 and Rundberg there was a pretty good sized sports bar that had more screens than I've ever seen in one place. I recall Pittsburgh, Green Bay, Kansas City, NYGiants, really just about every team well represented. Pretty cool that there was never any trouble there in spite of that. That was in the '80's and it's only gotten more diverse in Austin since.
