Default Re: The first "I want this FA" thread of the offseason

Well at least his "great moments" came more often than JJs, and he won't be returning punts so he can't put those on the ground. As a straight up comparison to JJ, he's athletically similar but with a better in game track record.

Honestly I'd want Bowe, but I highly doubt we'll be in the mix for the top tier FA's. I fully expect we'll be able to sign Foster, Mario, and Myers. Especially since the first year in Marios contract will be dramatically cheaper then what we payed him this year, and I'm still expecting our #1 Pick to go towards our WR of the Future. Jerome Simpson would be a great middle man during the transition from AJ to Mr. First Round pick.

Look at the Cowboys right now with 3 amazing receivers, and how The Giants are pulling off something similar over there. I think Simpson is at the top of the speed section of the servicable FA WRs, so that's what makes him my target

50 receptions for 725 yards from Andy Dalton and sharing receptions with AJ Green, and Caldwell, and Gresham is pretty good if you ask me

1a- Trade Jacoby for a half eaten sandwich and a flat warm coca cola
1b - Pay Foster
2 - #2 WR - Downfield threat...early in the draft
3 - Corner to compete with KJ - If he stays it will be put up or shut up year
4 - O Line depth

- I'm not up to date enough on cap space and free agency to take about what to do with Mario and who we might pick up.

I think there's way better guys available than him to be honest.

I'd say Alshon Jeffrey or Kendall Wright in the 1st, or Dwight Jones in the 2nd, or Jordan White in the 3rd. Could take a flyer on a guy like Broyles in the 4th.

Will Hartmann be the same? I think we should go away with Turk and give Hartmann a run for his job.
Sign Foster to a big contract
Franchise Mario
Draft Alshon Jefferey, if not Kendall Wright.
And most importantly of all, keep Wade in Houston.

Wouldn't mind a new giant NT either
I think Tagging Mario is a good idea, if he gets hurt again then we can part ways.

Number 1 sign Foster
Number 2 cut Jacoby
Number 3 get a FA reciever.

Look to get some safety help.

LB and OL depth.

New training staff or conditioning coach if it's deemed necessary.

That's it for now, I guess.
Brett Hartmann will be back next year and he was a stud. Will probably still be a stud.

Harris and Carmichael are probably going to see more playing time in TC this year, which probably means if we pick up any DB's from the draft it'll be later, and probably guys who can do PR duties as well.

And for the first time like ever, I am fine with our Safeties and our depth at safety.

Obviously we need to sign our guys first, but beyond that I would be extremely happy with any of the following:

1. Brent Grimes
2. Dwayne Bowe
3. Wes Welker
4. Marques Colston

All pipe dreams, of course, but if they're available and we don't go after them I would be disappointed.

I don't follow college football, but if there are any playmaking safeties I would say we still have to go after them. Quinn and Manning are perfectly fine, but you can never understimate the impact of a play-making safety. It would pretty much settle down our need for a good CB2.

Positions I think need to be addressed are WR, NT, CB, ILB depth, OL depth, S depth.

There's not really any playmaking safeties in the draft that are worth worrying about in the first couple of rounds for us really. Quintin Demps is a decent enough backup and I think Dom Barber might qualify as this as well if he's not up on his contract. I think this offseason is probably going to revolve around beefing up the offense in some spots and maybe finding some depth on the D.

Default Re: 2012 Wish List.

1 - keep our own. kubiak and wade, mario, myers, foster, dreessen. we were our starting quarterback away from a MAJOR playoff run. having the whole team together next season plus one or two pieces will have great results.

2 - get and stay healthy. a LOT of muscle injuries this year, a problem with the strength and condition coach?

3 - WR2. you never want to reach in the draft, but this is a must have going into next season. a first rounder would be ideal. if it saves even a dime, drop jacoby.

4 - special teams. first find a returner, i'd love a late round specialist, and i'm really surprised we havent been able to do something with holliday. second maybe look into coaching. as i've said elsewhere we all love joe, but i see a fair amount of being stagnant or even regressing.

5 - focus on the draft. last year we made our free agency splash, in order to continue with #1 and keep our core together now and in the future, we need to continue building through the draft.

Am I the only fan of having Lienart as a backup in existence on this board? Not sure he'd take a deal that involved him sitting as the third string.

Anyway, my 2012 wishes are simple:

1) Stay healthy
2) Win the division and get to the AFC championship
3) Don't remember the Titans, just sweep them

If you only want player moves in this thread, then I've got nothing. I'd ***** about Jacoby Jones, but I've done it for 3 years now, and it's gotten me nowhere.

I personally didn't like seeing him checking down every play and not challenging the deep part of the field. I saw that Sage is supposed UFA and honestly I think we will ask him to come back. Whether he will or not is another story.

Sign MW, Foster and Meyer. We will be able to afford if we work the contracts right becuase the cap will expand in 2013 significantly as it is now tied to revenue and a new TV deal will be in the works then.

Release Jacoby. After 5 years you are what you are.

Sign Reggie Wayne to finish his career here next to Andre.

Draft Kendall Wright or a big body receiver like A.Jefferies out of S.Carolina. Draft best player available throughout the remainder of the draft.

Hope Hartman returns healthy.

Bring in competition for Rackers, we need the ability to score from 50+.

Pay Wade with that King Titus money.

Win the Superbowl.

You can count me in. Leinart isn't anything spectacular and but he plays a very safe style of football, more or less just managing the game. I like TJ, but I can't help but wonder what might have happened in that Baltimore game if we had safer QB play. Of course that is just speculative, but either way I think it's silly how anxious everyone is to flush Leinart based on 13 pass attempts (10 of which he completed for 1 TD). The problem is whether or not Leinart would be willing to renegotiate his deal, we are going to have cap issues and he is a little overpaid.

1) Sign Foster, Williams, and Myers
2) Get Solid WR2 (whether FA or draft) I would like to see us pick up Laurent Robinson.
3) Get a solid CB2 (whether through FA or draft)

BTW Jacoby Jones will be on the team next year and will have the best season of his career...it will just be as WR3.

4. Try to sign another large run stuffing DT.

5. Ship Mario to save cap space.

6. Keep everything else the same. Lock up as many players as possible.

This team really has potential to go all the way next year.

On the coaching front: Stay with Kubes and try to lock up Wade.
1& 2. Kendall Wright may not be there but Dwight Jones should be.
3. CB? Either second rounder Brandon Harris or Roc Carmichael should replace Allen. Safety, at combine watch Kentucky SS/FS/CB Winston Guy who has rocketed up boards despite team losing. He's 6'1" 210 4.46 speed. He is a tackling machine moved this last season to a hybrid LB to take advantage of his skills. SHould be avail in our 3rd.
4. agree
5. Mario? What if he is re-signed to a friendly deal that allows you to save $8-9 million over 2011 cap hit?
