Well, besides the play of T.J. Yates I think the most crucial thing for the Texans to do is hold Rice in check on Sunday now that does not mean stop him totally. I know that Baltimore has Boldin and Smith but Rice is the one who makes their offense move down the field and if the Texans slow him down that would force Flacco to air it out. By doing this do not necessarily guarantee a Texans victory but I am still a huge believer in eliminating the best player of your opponent on both sides of the football no matter what. In any sport/game you play one of your goals should always be to take away the best players out there and if someone else steps up and beats you then sobeit but at least you will know after the game that you did what you had to do. That is just what I expect Kubiak and Phillips to do this week and I think they will do so then I think the sky is the limit and good things will happen for the Texans. But, if none of this occurs then the game will probably be very long for the Texans and their fans. Here is to hoping this comes true and Houston is going to be celebrating after the game as well as the rest of the week. Hell, why not for the rest of the year? Please don't let me down TEXANS I know you will try your absolute best it has been ten very long years for all of us. In case you have not noticed yet I am very stoked about the game on Sunday and I hope everyone is just as much as I am. GO TEXANS HIT WITH YOUR BEST SHOT FIRE AWAY.

I don't follow the NBA and I'm not sure if it would apply here, but a friend of mine who's a huge basketball fan once told me that teams would typically beat the Lakers by letting Kobe score his points and defending everyone around him.

I tend to agree with that theory, myself. I'm not saying let Ray Rice pound you into oblivion, but if I am Wade Phillips I focus on plugging the gaps and controlling Vonta. Rice will get a good gain on a few runs, but I would rather take away his first option (and second if possible) and frustrate him. I think that will turn the game more than anything else.

Then again, maybe I'm saying the same thing you did.

I'm guessing you left out some good insight about Cody and Mitchell, but what you are proposing is no epiphany.

I think anyone on the planet knows we have to keep Rice in chex



I'm personally more concerned with our play on the other side of the ball. TJ has not seen the likes of what's coming. I hope he has one hell of a game. If that happens, the rest should take care of itself.

I think the Ravens defense is getting too much hype here. I'm not saying that they're not a great defense or that they can't pummel T.J. into Mr. Mittens territory, but the media is acting like Yates hasn't played a good defense all season. I remember that when we played the Jags, Bengals, and Falcons the talk was about how Yates beat 3 Top 10 defenses (and I believe 2 Top 5) in a row.

I think the Bengals pass rush was the fiercest Yates has faced. The Ravens..... let's just say I share their concern.

Schaub was sacked 4 times against the Ravens, & knocked around quite a bit more. Kubiak needs to get creative, move the pocket, roll him out (& not those blind bootlegs where he turns around & sees someone in his grille)...... 3 step drops & screens right off the bat.

He's not only a great rusher, but he's a pretty damn good receiver as well. 76 receptions for 704 yards this season. Texans are going to have their hands full trying to stop him. I'm sure they're up to the task though!

Out of Baltimore's 16 games 11 were played against Top 10 Defenses. Ravens went 9-2 against those top 10 (5-0 against the top 5 defenses)
Texans played 6 Top 10 Defenses. 7 if you include their win over the Bengals last week. Texans went 6-1 against top 10 defenses. The 1 is against the over-hyped one.

Your reply does not address theCD's point. He is saying "they" are saying that Yates is going to fold because of the Ravens' top 10 defense. He counters that argument with the fact that Tj has played against 3 top 10 defenses already & 2 of them were top 5

He didn't look too bad.

The Ravens could have played 100 games against top 10 defenses & it wouldn't change the fact that Tj has played "well" against top 10 defenses.

Sorry, to be honest I wasn't sure how many TJ played against and wasn't really bothered to look it up. He didn't play the Ravens that was Schaub. Did TJ beat the Steelers or did Schaub? TJ must have beaten the Bengals 2X and the Jags once or twice?

Yates played Jacksonville once, the Bengals twice, & I think Atlanta was in the top 10 when we played them. So I think he's counting the Falcons as one.
