Packer's OC Joe Philbin's son reported missing...
Reports say body found in Fox River in Oshkosh
Oshkosh - The body of a male was discovered Monday afternoon in the Fox River, according to several media reports.
It could not be immediately determined if the body is that of Michael Philbin, 21, of Ripon, the son of Green Bay Packers offensive coordinator Joe Philbin. Michael Philbin had been reported missing Sunday in Oshkosh, but Winnebago County Sheriff's Department officials said they were awaiting a positive identification of the body that was found.
Earlier, Packers general manager Ted Thompson said that the team was aware that Michael Philbin had been reported missing. And at his Monday news conference, head coach Mike McCarthy said that the Philbin family is "obviously going through a tough time now." He said the team was "holding out hope that this comes to a positive conclusion."
Thompson did not speak to reporters but issued this statement: "The Packers organization is aware of the missing person report regarding Michael Philbin, son of offensive coordinator Joe Philbin. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Philbin family during this difficult time. We ask anyone with information about Michael to contact the Oshkosh Police Department."
On Monday, county dive and rescue crews resumed searching after reports came to authorities that a person may have fallen through the ice in the Fox River near the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh campus.
Winnebago County Sheriff's Lt. Lara Vendola-Messer said Monday that the crews were looking for a body based on credible evidence that someone had fallen into the water.
In the Oshkosh press release, police say they are looking for Philbin, who was last heard from about 2 a.m. Sunday while visiting friends in Oshkosh.
Philbin was reported missing on Sunday at 8:15 p.m.
The Oshkosh Northwestern reported that an employee of Axletech made an emergency call about 2:30 a.m. Sunday, saying he thought he heard someone calling for help from the river. The paper also reported that Philbin came to Oshkosh Saturday night to visit friends and had been in the UW-Oshkosh area.
In March 2009, Michael Philbin, who attended Green Bay Southwestern High School, was found guilty of two counts of having sexual intercourse with a child over the age of 16, and two counts of battery stemming from an incident in August 2008.
Michael Philbin was sentenced to six months in jail on the battery charges. He was placed on probation for 30 months on the sexual intercourse charge.
McCarthy said Monday that the Packers were "prepared to do what we need to do to make sure our football team is ready to go" for Sunday's playoff game against the New York Giants.

I don't see the relevance of Philbins legal problems with the fact he is missing.
Just a reporter sensationalizing a family tragedy. Shame on him.
