It's all about which T.J. shows up. If it's the guy who went 4 for 4 the last time we saw him we're in good shape.

If it's not....

If you can step back & separate emotion, it's kinda funny to see both sides then realize none of it's definitive. Just opinion of former players paid to have an opinion to generate interest in another NFL product.

I'm damn disappointed how Texans finished the season. But does it really matter in the final analysis?

Dalton was the 35th overall selection in the 2011 draft while Yates was drafted #152 so is it really fair to compare the two?

The timing of Wade Phillips bizarre medical condition is curious, like he was actually playing on the field & needed rest along with Andre & Co. Begs the question how much stress is involved in this high stakes game played on Sundays?

Ultimately it boils down to how well Texans can run the ball on Cincinnati while limiting Ced Benson. Also need another big game from Joseph (health?) to shutdown rookie all pro WR AJ Green. Oh yeah, turnovers. Long as Texans take more than they give it should be all good!

One thing I have noticed about Dalton, is he stares down his receivers, never looking off the safety. I think Manning and Quin make a huge impact this game.

For so called "experts", none of these guys mentioned what is probably going to be the biggest factor in this game. Turnovers!!!!! I can almost guarantee you that whatever team wins the turnover battle this game will win the ball game. Yates can't go into the game hesitant, but he has to understand when to pick his spots and take chances. Tate and Foster better not put the ball on the ground once either! Its no excuse for guys as talented as they are to have fumbled as much as they have over the last 6 weeks. If we take care of the ball then we win! I'll stand by that 100 percent.

I want to ask you something but keep in mind that I don't mean any offense.

Why for god's sake you Americans are always obsessed with momentum???

I mean, I get how it could be a good psychological boost for your team, but playing at home is even more important...

Also 1 lost game should count as "bad momentum" only if you play with the same players you will use in the next game.

Even if that was right feeling superior because you have momentum could be dangerous because if you underestimate your opponent you will likely get a hard time on the field.

Now, I'm not a football expert: I enjoy a lot of it though... Every time I hear someone making prediction they always talk about momentum like is the most important factor...

But maybe that is only what the commentators say and does not reflect well the general idea of football for the fans.

So, to get a more realistic view what I'm asking you is:

How do you feel about momentum?

(Please do not refear at the current Texans situation, just give me a general opinion if you can)

Thank to everyone that will take a moment to help me improving my undersanding of football.

First off why is Jalen Rose in there hosting? Wasn't he an NBA player?

I think some of you hit it on the head. Dukes has picked against the Texans all season and he is not about to change now.

In regards to Willie McGinest, who echoed what some of you have said here regarding the Texans last 3 games and momentum. He ignored Sapp's point that the Bengals have no momentum either, so to say he is picking the Bengals because the Texans lost their momentum is insane.

I have said it before about these shows. It seems like producers want to make it a face off and not really hear what the players really think. I do not think I have ever heard the No Huddle crew unanimous on a topic or even 3 out of 4. It is always 2 on 2. Check earlier in the season when Sapp was dogging the Texans in a No Huddle segment, yet since then he has been tooting the Texans horn.

Just hype to sell tickets and NFL merchandise.

This is something that is hard to put your finger on. Recent studies show momentum is a myth and has little to no effect on the outcome of a game. LINK Having said that, I can tell you that I have attended games or watched them on TV where I felt what might be called Momentum swings in the games that seemed to alter the outcome of the contest.

It's Psychological in nature in my opinion, and is part of the the human condition. I have seen it in battle also where someone is wounded or killed which has an immediate effect on the minds of the other men, changing the tide of the battle, making them fight harder usually, but other times demoralizing. Is it momentum? Who can say for certain.

I think its more about which Arian Foster shows up ..... the one who rushed for 1200+ yards averaging 4.4 per carry or the one who gained 41 yards on 15 carries against the Bengals the last time they faced them in Cincy.

If Foster averages 4+ YPC Yates job becomes much easier.

If Foster has another 15-41 type day ..... they may need more last second heroics from Yates.

4/4 isnt really good enough to judge a game performance. what we need from Yates is a QB who will look down the field and possibly throw it down there are well, lets hope AJ is the source that spurs this. 16ppg isnt going to cut it I dont think

I would say it is more so on our running game as a whole. How Foster AND Tate produce as a unit. Foster is an amazing back, and he can at times make people miss and break out for great gains, but defenses seem to key in on him when he is in the game.

That's when I feel it is important to get Tate some carries. We've all seen games where it seems like Tate is just running with ease and Foster is having to work for 1-3 yards. This all has to do with their different styles of running, and how defenses defend each of them.

The key is to utilize both backs and read the defense in terms of how they defend our runs. Hopefully Kubiak is quick to give Tate some snaps if it seems Foster isn't quite able to break for decent yardage. Or vise-verse.

Key note: Tate had 8 carries for 67 yards, 8.4 yards per carry in that same game against the Bengals.

Usually one of the two is more successful depending on what looks the defense gives each one. Kubiak needs to find which back is working and ride him to victory.

Good question. I think it's one of those overrated intangibles that cannot really be proven.

The Saints lost the last three games of the 2009 season but went on to win a Super Bowl.

Heck, the Texans lost back-to-back games this season before going on a 7 game win streak.

I think it's one of those things that talking heads on tv like to ramble on about but, in the end, it's just an opinion.

I think health of the team is far more important, because that is obvious in it's impact.

One aspect not even mentioned on No Huddle was that the game will be at Reliant, with a rabid fanbase that has waited 18 years for a playoff game. The Bengals better be good with hand signals, because 70,000+ Texans fans will have no mercy on that team. 100% effort by the 12th man is an intangible that I feel is far more important than any kind of perceived momentum.

I did find it funny how the entire panel busted a gut when Jake Delholmme's name came up.

I noticed that too... Is he considered some kind of
"not able enough/too old for winning QB" ?

I don't think he was bad on week 17, team of backups and still manages to go OT (the kick would have put the game OT most likely, we all know why the 2pt attempt was made)

And against a team with everything to lose....

I was kinda worried about losing TJ in the playoffs, now I am still worried... but not that much

I think it's because Delhomme's last playoff game saw him turn the ball over 6 times or something like that. Plus, dude was not even a backup QB on any team's roster, so nobody has any confidence in him these days.

Personally, I don't know what to think about the dude. He didn't seem that bad against the Titans, but it's just one game and hard to really analyze the guy in an offense that he just learned. And honestly, I hope we never have to see what he's about because TJ came through and proved that he's the right man for the job.

That is exactly what they do on all of those ESPN panel shows. I can't think of a time where I ever saw everyone pick the same team. They want to see opposing viewpoints and let the guys debate reasons why. It's exactly why ESPN is full of so much nonsense and trash. Every day it's who is going to debate the great "Skip Bayless!" And his competitor is usually some dumbass like Jemele Hill.

I hear ya, but No Huddle is an NFLN show, but probably still the same deal.

For the record I do not watch BSPN anymore.. It's been at least 3 years now since I have watched that network in any form. Same reason as all of you, just tired of the coverage they provide which is obviously biased.

I used to love BSPN back in the day when they had Rich Eison, Kenny Mayne, Keith Olberman, etc. It was great back then, but oh how things have changed. Those guys had me in stitches back then.

I Love Ditka... Used to eat in his restaurant when I lived in New Orleans for a few years working. But he is on BSPN so I do not get a chance to watch him. Wish they would get him on NFLN.
