Texans 2012 opponents determined

According to the NFL future scheduling rotation plan, which can be found on page 17 of the 2011 edition of the NFL Record an Fact Book, the AFC South will play the AFC East in its intraconference divisional matchups and the NFC North in its interconference divisional matchups.

Since the Texans finished in first place in the AFC South, they'll also get to play the first place teams from the AFC North and AFC West, aka the 'first place schedule.'

And of course, the Texans will play each of its AFC South opponents twice home-and-away as they do every season.

Home and away locations for other opponents is determined by rotation, i.e., the Texans last played the NFC North in 2008 and the AFC East in 2009 so take a look at the sites where those games were played and reverse them for 2012.

Exact dates and times won't be known until the league schedule is released - typically in April.

That's a very tough schedule and I think the home schedule is a bit tougher than road. I think Miami and Buffalo are better than Denver and the Jets. Baltimore and GB are the two best teams we play next year, home or away.

Baltimore and Green Bay are definitely the toughest games on the schedule. After that the next four toughest (IMO) are on the road. @Detroit, @Chicago (they will likely have Cutler), @New England & @New York (Houston has never beaten the Jets) should all be tough games. Buffalo, Miami (I believe Houston has never lost to the Dolphins), and Minnesota at home look like the easiest games on the schedule (not including the Jags and Colts of course). There's usually a lot changes from year to year though.

At least we have the Dolphins again. I still don't understand what football god is allowing us to be undefeated against them, but I'll take what I can get.

Only teams that truly give me pause are the Ravens and Packers.

If the Patriots don't address their defensive issues, I'm not nearly as afraid of them.

Everyone else, meh. The Lions, maybe.

No reason to not go 11-5 at least, if we can actually stay healthy and such, you know.

It would appear to be a much tougher schedule then this years, but you never really know.

Actually, I'm pretty happy that the Broncos won their division. We can beat Tebow next year. The Ravens should be tough, even at home, but that's expected in a 1st place schedule.

If we are healthy, that schedule doesn't seem that bad. I would say of all those games there are only two games I pencil in as a loss already, Green Bay and at New England.

Playing a 1st place schedule definitely tests the legitimacy of our playoff performance. Put up or shut up. I'm interested to see the prime time games for the Texans. I hope they are few and far between.

They should have at least 3, including a SNF game. Probably play in Detroit on Thanksgiving, as well.

Yep, not playing the Raiders or the Browns. That's what can happen when you win your division.
