Default How to respond to Wade questions??

You know they'll be asking the Question, "What would you think if Wade leaves after the season?"

Or, "What do you think about Wade wanting to be a head coach?"

How do you think Kubiak should answer?

How do you think the defensive players will answer?

.

Carolina is a good young football team and we respect the hell out of those kids.

It is not about a particular coach (cough, cough, liar) or player. We are the Texans. Next player or coach will step.

My response to said answer? WHAHAHAHAHAHA

I think Kubiak should answer:
Quote:
Whatever’s best for the coaches. One thing about coaching, when (coaches) come in here and work their tail off for you, you’ve got to want what’s best for everybody in the organization. … If that’s an opportunity that guys want, I’m going to support them, because they’ve come here and given me everything they have.

First, there's nothing Kubiak, McNair or anyone else could do to prevent Wade from pursuing another HC position. NFL rules require an assistant coach to be allowed to interview for and accept a HC job - regardless of his existing contractual situation.

More importantly, the Texans organization needs to make certain that top level coaching talent knows that they won't be prevented from pursuing promotions - even with other teams - or we'll have a very difficult time getting them here in the first place. This applies less to the HC situation Wade would be looking at than it does to someone pursuing a coordinator position, but regardless, if we want to be able to bring in top level coaching talent, they need to be impressed by the way this organization conducts it's business.

Wouldn't have expected Kubiak to say anything less.
We all hope Wade stays, but if he wants to give head coaching another shot, more power to him.

That's not in question. I'm sure everyone knows that. It's about the distractions this causes.

The players, Gary, Rick, & McNair will all be asked this question. Possibly moving focus away from the game & to next year.

I think this regime has been very good about delivering the same message. Whether you ask the owner or the towel boy, you'll pretty much get the same answer (worded differently maybe, but the same answer).

This, with Wade, is probably the first time anyone in the organization has said something publicly that goes against the grain.

Well, there was that "Pay me Rick" thing... but other than that.

I don't think its a distraction at all. These are all professionals and they need to find a way to keep their focus on the game. The Patriots lost both of their coordinators their last Super Bowl win, and knew those guys were leaving. Those were the Patriots, but you get my point. It happens every year with successful teams after they're having a good run. So I guess to answer you original question:

I don't think it matters at all how they answer to it. Their focus has always been about the next game. They get asked questions all the time about things that don't have anything to do with the next game, or do little skits like "on the nose". This is no different. When they're in the meeting rooms, practice field, and game field they'll be all business as usual. Its being blown out of proportion way too much in my opinion.

Coachs and players move around in the NFL, it's just the way it is. Doesn't mean you have to like it though. I sure as hell hope Wade doesn't leave us. But personally, I'd put my money on him being back next season.

In a dose of irony it almost kind of works out in the Texans favor that he is missing some time. Teams will look at this as a sign that his body may not be able to hold up with him being up in age. Do they really want to invest in a head coach who may have to miss games in the future? While it sounds like an isolated deal, and I definitely hope Wade is the picture of health after this surgery it makes you wonder if teams will feel this way.
