Except now after last night's game the Patriots are the #1 seed, The Ravens #2 and the Texans #3.

Appreciate the work Brakos. We know it is fluid and will change by game but it does give a snapshot. If you choose to do the work after each future game, I for one would definitely review it.

It's interesting how both North divisions control 3 playoff spots in each conference. They still have quite a few divisional games left to play.

If we beat either Atlanta or Cincinatti, we can get #2. Problem is we gotta do it without Schaub. If we can't, we're not going anywhere in the playoffs anyway.

In my scenario we beat ATL and lose @CIN, finish 12-4 (which I think is the best case scenario for the Texans), and are in a 4 way tie with NE, PIT, and BAL. NE and BAL would get #1 and #2 seeds then. We need BAL to stumble a couple of times, starting with this Thursday, but I have a feeling they'll win the "Harbowl"

For whatever reason I can't edit my original post, so I'll just add on as we go. Also tweaked the colors because colorblind me can't see the difference between the old red and green.

So, in summary, we need the Texans to keep winning and we need the Patriots and Ravens to lose at least one.... and then we'll be the #1 seed.

I believe I had the Ravens losing one on the road and that's why I had us as a possible 2.

Not much change with the Turkey day games, other than DET falling back a step in the wild-card hunt. SF still has control of #2 after loss. Full post after Sunday's games.

What to watch Sunday for the Texans:
If Houston wins: New England loss to Philadelphia would give Houston control of #2 seed. Raiders loss to Chicago would improve odds of higher playoff seed. Titans loss to Tampa would all but eliminate them from the division title race. With a Houston loss, they would only control the #4 seed. - If Houston wins out (13-3), they have a 68% chance of taking the #1 seed, and are almost guaranteed (98%) a first-round bye. - If Houston loses only 1 more game (12-4), they have a 1 in 4 change to get the #1 seed, and a 3 in 4 chance at a first-round bye. - An 11-5 record will only give Houston a 1 in 3 chance of a first-round bye. |
