Just thought this was interesting:
http://online.wsj.com/article/SB1000...150731054.html "Charley Casserly, a former general manager who was a member of the NFL's competition committee, says he voted against releasing All-22 footage because he worried that if fans had access, it would open players and teams up to a level of criticism far beyond the current hum of talk radio. Casserly believed fans would jump to conclusions after watching one or two games in the All 22, without knowing the full story. " Wish I could watch all the Texans games both ways.

I think it would be awesome to have an NFL films about the "big uglies" and a camera over the offensive line and see how they work in unison

That would be cool. Idk, I mean for the most part, I don't mind when the receivers/dbs go off camera for a second. It would be cool on like 3rd downs or obvious pass attempts if some different, wide angled cameras were used more. I like the one that hovers over the field. Even for replay use, just getting to see the view from a QB/madden type view here and there. I don't know about watching complete games in an overhead view...I know plenty of people would buy a dvd but it seems like that's for a reeeeeeally crazed extreme fan.

I wonder, some times why certain plays are called and wonder if it is setting something up later.. just a chess match between offensive and defensive coaches.. I am sure if they would show everything, all the coaches sitting on the couch would critique every play .. but it would be interesting

Maybe they would reach the conclusion that the talent evaluators like Charlie missed on their picks.

Casserly was on the radio here in Houston and a called asked him about Carr staring down WR's and Casserly said that, "everybody stares down wr's in the NFL...that's overrated". I lost the remaining balance of credibility he held that day I think. Casserly is just a spin guy. As a personnel guy he doesn't belong in the league. Dude has gotten way more than his 15 mins of fame.

I don't think it opens them up to any higher levels of criticism. The criticism will be there regardless, maybe it would just be more accurate. Truth hurts? |

They sometimes do show replays that are almost an all-22. I wish they'd do it more often.

Not everybody, just the guys who don't wanna start.
I guess it was Madden, but one of those games used to show a triangular "vision" thingamajiggy for the QBs. Peyton's was almost flat it was so wide and he pretty much saw everything from the LOS to the back of the endzone simultaneously. Carr's was practically a laser-beam, LOL. He might not even see the CB hanging on to A.J. for dear life.

Yeah, I can understand some of the older generation being that way, but he was "trying" to run an organization.

I think it's pathetic that the NFL is so anal retentive about this footage. Their iron grip on every aspect of the game and on-going (d)evolution into arena-like football will eventually lose a lot of the old school fans. It's disappointing to say the least.

I'd seriously consider subscribing to an All-22 service for the Texans games. ...even at $100 a year.
I think the real reason the NFL won't offer this service is that if one can see the All-22 viewpoint in high-def and at home, what would be the point of going to the stadium? hmmm.... let's seee... pay $100/year to see the stadium view - at home, no parking hassles, no $8-9 beers, fast-forwarding thru commercials (if they include them)... OR pay $100/game to go to the stadium...? I guess I'd miss the cheerleaders... IMHO, that's the NFL's real fear; losing butts in the seats. |

BUT. Although I enjoy the experience of screaming my head off at the game*, I prefer watching the game at home. I can stop the plays and rewind them as many times as I want. My wife and I generally fart around for a bit after the game starts so we can skip past the commercials and the half-time crap; I keep the computer turned off so I can't see the score and everyone has been notified that we are not to be called about scores or anything for at least an hour after the end of the game. I would almost kill to see the All-22 tape. * I've been to one game per year since 2006 and they've only won 1 of them. I'm not going at all this year... although I might go to the playoff game(s). Of course, I might not since I'm a total freaking jinx. The one year they won (against the Jags), we got t-boned by a car zooming out of an apartment parking lot on the way home.

i.e.. receivers running comeback routes for a while and then later in the game (depending on what the cornerbacks have been doing) and later doing a stop and go for a big gain

I might go as high as $400 a year to see that, like on the Net.
