If you look at it objectively with Andre Johnson returning this actually IS that mythical team where everything else is working perfectly that Carr needed to be successful.

First, let me say, I just nut checked myself due to hitting the reply button knowing I was going to talk about this dude.

Anywho, I don't think he was ever smart enough to run an offense like this to the extent it's been run. He never really took the time to study the position to the extent most QBs do.

Now, there might be a slim chance he'd do ok if he was given the opportunity today *gag me with a spoon*. I mean, you'd think he's learned something after 10 years, right?

Huh? Why would he be considered that? Leinart was never a complete slouch. Wisenhunt gave up way to early on him and just didn't like him from the start. Leinart played alright when he first started. Kubiak got Schaub and Schaub had looked pretty good from the jump, but Kubes hasn't done anything with any other QB's here so lets back off of that greatest QB coach in the NFL stuff for a second. He didn't make Grossman, Dan O, or Carr look good at all. He thought he could, and wasn't able to do so. Leinart isn't near as bad as people have made him out to be over the years and I've been very happy to have him as our back up. He won't have to do a whole lot most likely and will manage games more than he'll have to carry an offense.

I've wondered about you at times, but this is just downright crazy. Just about as crazy as how you stated that Slaton had his best season as a Texan last year.

Orlovsky had zero attempts in the regular season and Grossman had nine. Neither was ever being considered as a starting QB. C'mon. Kubiak coached QB's have had very good success. Typically the best of their careers. And we should be wishing for that with Leinart.

Yes DC would be more successful than he was but it isn't solely about the team around him (nor is it solely about the QB). Carr couldn't see the middle of the field, with all sorts of mobility (the anti-Schaub) he had no pocket presence, he couldn't make the kind of line calls Kubiak's system requires, etc. He just was so poor he limited any team around him.

Trent Dilfer is David Carr's best friend (for real). I think if Carr had been drafted by an established team, sat on the bench and forced to learn how to be a functional NFL QB, I think he could have had the potential to be Dilfer-like on a team that had everything else going for it (meaning manage a game and don't make mistakes).

First, it was really more a compliment to our team (running game, OL, scheme, defense, talent) than it was any kind of a compliment to David Carr.

Second, I wasn't a David Carr fan before he got here, but those first two years, he looked as if winning was important to him.

Third, you're right, I shouldn't have gone there.

I had never said Slaton had his best season as a Texan last year.

Just because a particular poster says I did, doesn't make it so.

& another thing... if you truly have a problem with what I said above, it only proves you've got a problem letting your emotions cloud your ability to scout players. Coming out of college, the kids' talent made him the #1 overall selection.

Carr would still make stupid mistakes even if he was given a shot with this team today. That's just his personality type.

He's erratic and doesn't think well under pressure.

Dude, you said it so don't even try to back off of that statement now. I remember reading it just fine and it wasn't long ago. If you'd like to retract that statement now then fine, but don't sit here and outright lie as if you didn't post it. GP and several others questioned you about it at the time and you tried to use some lame YPC average to justify it.

I don't care what his talent was coming out of college. Newsflash to Thunder, every 1st round QB in the NFL is a top tier talent. That doesn't mean that they can play in the NFL at a high level and David Carr never could. He stunk it up everywhere so spare me with this drivel about having the abilities to scout players. You made a goof of a statement here and you know it.

Good read, thanks.

The statement in bold, I wonder exactly what does that mean. Does that mean the #1, 2, & 3 reads change depending on the coverage?

I just always assumed Andre was #1, then whoever, then whoever....

David Carr would shine on this team.
Maybe Matt banged his daughter? Or she wanted to hop in the hot tub with him?

I wonder how the blind side will work. If teams adjust by lining up speed rushers on WInston, I would run strait at them. do that enough, and they may reconsider.

Dude stop. You wrote it outright, so don't put that on others because you know how ridiculous that statement was now. That leads me to believe that down the line you'll deny saying that David Carr could do a great job at QB for this current team.

Of course he did, and yes I was a fan when he was drafted. What is your point?? He sucked not only with us, but with 3 teams.
