Undrafted running backs have a better chance of success than QB, the most important position on the field. Brady wasn't a rookie when Drew Bledsoe got hurt.

LOL

My friend, I think they mixed up your meds over in the mental ward. I think they gave you Timothy Leary's prescription by mistake (at least I think it was a mistake ). Please.... step away from the LSD.

I think its safe to say that Kubiak is going off a little more then a hunch based on draft positions. He thinks Leinart can get the job done, so I'll take that opinion over one based on guesses.

You left out the part where that "success" (and I'm going back and check the stat sheets) was against the other guys' THIRD STRING.

We only have preseason stats on either of them and here's the comparison

Vs. Jets (we won 20-16)
Yates - - 6 of 12 for 97 yds; no TDs, no INTs
Leinart- - 8 of 14 for 78 yds; 1 TD, 1 INT

Vs. Saints (we won 27-14)
Yates - - No passing stats; two rushes for -3 yds
Leinart- - 8 of 18 for 89 yds; no TDs, no INTs

Vs. Niners (we won 30-7)
Yates - - 1 of 1 for 7 yds; no TDs or INTs
Leinart- - 7 of 10 for 69 yds; no TDs or INTs

Vs. Vikings (we got embarrassed 28-0)
Yates - - 6 of 13 for 77 yds; no TDs or INTs
Leinart- - 13 of 16 for 145 yds; no TDs or INTs

There's nothing in these stats that tell me Yates is all that. And Yates was always going against 3rd stringers.

This. Christian Ponder lit us up in the 4th preseason game. How's he doing this season?

I agree with this. But the whole point was that he can throw a deep accurate pass. i dont want to revery to the days of carr/ragone where the longest pass is 5 yards down the field on a dump off every play.

Leinart all the way.

You want to throw a rookie out there with no experience at all while we are the #1 team in the AFC? Leinart has read NFL defenses and has experienced failure already, I think there is a good chance Matt 2 will be ready and far more prepared than Yates will.

As for Matt 2 having horrible time in Arizona, that's really not fair. His rookie season was not bad, it just wasn't great or amazing and Wisenhunt has been horrible when it comes to making decisions on his QB position.

Leinart, if only because he has more to lose than Yates. That being said, I'll reserve judgement until after the Atlanta game. If Leinart totally sucks out, then I think giving Yates a look should be up for consideration.

I went Leinart.

He's more experienced and he's had a lot more snaps with the first string offense. He's going to have better chemistry because he's worked with these guys before. He's got two years in this system with these coaches.

If we were talking long term, I'd vote Yates. He's actually got more time in this system because he played in a copy of it in college. But he is a rookie and he's got zero experience or chemistry with these receivers.

I think Yates has more upside and more talent and a chance at a better future in this league but he's not as good as Leinart is right this second.

TJ Yates is just taking up a slot and he might not make the team next season come on guys lets be serious we are wasting time on silly votes about TJ Yates. Matt Leinart has a shot to turn around failed career so far lets give him a chance and if he doesn't do well Houston will no doubt draft a QB in either the 2nd or 3rd round of next years NFL Draft depending how matt shaub recovers from the Lisfranc fracture surgery.

If it was that big of a deal I think Kubiak wouldn't have paid him. Schaub seems to stop before he throws anyways. I doubt it will be an issue. TJ Yates is terrible. Leinart all the way.
