Default 2014 draft evaluation..anyone?

I rarely focus much on previous drafted players that are not selected by Texans. I also realize it takes more than one season to evaluate players however we do have something to go by even if it is just a few plays by Clowney. Anyone want to throw in on how the 2014 first round guys did their first season? I am not interested in anyone labeling Clowney a bust and for this thread we can eliminate him as he has an ongoing thread.

I am still a trade down guy for the most part & would be interested on how these guys did. Also, don't want to argue whether Texans had a trade opportunity or not as that too has been discussed. Please stick to evaluations of play not opinions on the pick.

ok...well I will try and maybe others will join in:

#2 Greg Robinson St. Louis:

Quote:
With veteran tackle Jake Long's status in doubt for 2015 as he recovers from a second torn ACL in as many seasons, St. Louis Rams coach Jeff Fisher left no doubt about who his left tackle is heading into 2015: Greg Robinson.

Long

Robinson
The 2014 No. 2 overall pick moved from left guard to left tackle after Long suffered his injury in the Oct. 26 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. Robinson went on to play almost every snap the rest of the way at that spot.

When the Rams drafted Robinson, they did so with the anticipation that Robinson could play inside in the short term but would be the team's future and long-term left tackle. The future is apparently now as the Rams wait to see where Long stands moving forward...

That should come as no surprise as the Rams invested such a valuable pick in Robinson and maintain high hopes that he can become a cornerstone piece for their offense. He had plenty of bumps along the way in his rookie season, especially in pass protection, but Robinson also flashed some of his immense promise along the way.

He started 12/16 and I think three at OG then last 9 at LT: 11 penalties 95 yds. r false starts & 6 holding 6.5 sacks allowed.

#3 Blake Bortles Jags 14 games 280/475 58.9% 2908 yds 6.01 avg 11 TDs 17 INTs sacked 55 rating 69.5 Rushing 56/419 7.5 3 w 13 losses.

Quote:
It’s never a good sign when a team has to abandon its plans for developing the franchise quarterback after only 10 quarters, but the good news for Jacksonville should be that it has almost an entire season of tape on which to evaluate Bortles. The problem, however, is that from watching Bortles play, it’s tough to say what the Jaguars have in him...

The Jaguars’ entire offense has been a mess this season, with a bad line and injuries at running back and wide receiver. As a result, you can hardly blame Bortles for the way he’s become a safe and at times overly cautious quarterback down the stretch. But you also can’t really evaluate Bortles. He’ll be the Jaguars’ starting quarterback next year, but the Jaguars really don’t know if he’s a franchise quarterback they can rely on for years to come.

#4 WR Sammy Watkins Bills 16 g 65/128 982 yds 15.1 6 TDs 1 fumble
* had hip injury

Quote:
Appearing on Sunday NFL Countdown, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported ex-coach Doug Marrone "stormed out of the draft room" when the Bills traded up for Sammy Watkins in May's draft.
It's a display of an extreme disconnect between the coach and the front office. And it's not the only time Marrone, GM Doug Whaley, and CEO Russ Brandon butted heads. The three reportedly got into a heated argument on the practice field in front of the team and media during the season. As a result of the Watkins trade, the Bills are without a 2015 first-round pick. They also don't have a quarterback. Whaley is leading the Bills' search for a new head coach. Jan 4 - 11:05 AM

#6 OT Jake Matthews Atlanta 15 games (1 out ankle sprain) 9 penalties 3 FS 5 holding 5 sacks allowed.

Quote:
The original plan was to ease in Matthews on the right side, but Baker's injury has jolted the timeline for May's No. 6 overall pick. With Matthews now guarding quarterback Matt Ryan's blind side, the Falcons used Lamar Holmes on the O-line's right edge Monday.

It's a relatively new position for Matthews, who played most of his Texas A&M career at right tackle before switching to the left in 2013 to replace the jettisoned Luke Joeckel.

Losing Baker was an unfortunate blow for a Falcons team that struggled to hold off defenders last season.

#7 WR Mike Evans Tampa 68/1051 12 TDs
early season groin injury
Quote:
Evans closes the book on his highly-impressive rookie campaign the owner of 68 catches for 1,051 yards and 12 touchdowns. He scored 10 times over his final nine games, and would be getting attention as the best rookie wideout in some time if not for Odell Beckham's biblical eruption down the stretch. Evans plays every bit his 6-foot-5, 231-pound frame, bodying out smaller corners to both high-point passes and win in tight spaces. Going on just 22, Evans is primed to be a special player for years to come. Sun, Dec 28, 2014 05:04:00 PM

Quote:

#9 Anthony Barr OLB Vikings 70 Ts 4 INTs

Quote:
Dec. 12 3:46 PM ET - Barr will have minor surgery on his knee to address an injury that has kept him out of the last two games. Coach Mike Zimmer said Friday that Barr won't play again this season.
Analysis: The first-round draft pick from UCLA was an immediate starter at the strong side spot, finishing with 99 tackles, four sacks, 13 quarterback hurries, three fumble recoveries and two forced fumbles in 12 games. On Oct. 26 at Tampa Bay, Barr stripped the ball from Buccaneers tight Austin Seferian-Jenkins and returned it 27 yards on the first play from scrimmage of overtime for a 19-13 victory by the Vikings.

#10 Eric Ebron TE Lions 13 g 25/248 9.9 avg 1 TD

Quote:
Eric Ebron secured 3-of-3 targets for 21 yards in the Lions' Wild Card Round loss to the Cowboys.
Ebron saw his first target late in the third quarter, picking up eight yards. He added gains of six and seven on two fourth-quarter checkdowns. Ebron is incredibly young -- he won't turn 22 until next April -- so his 25-248-1 rookie-season line shouldn't be taken as an indication he'll disappoint in the NFL. Ebron does need to become a more consistent pass catcher and learn to play to his athleticism. He too often "played slow" as a rookie. The Lions will certainly look to Ebron for a second-year leap in 2015. He wouldn't be a bad "buy-low" target in Dynasty and keeper leagues. Jan 4 - 8:31 PM
