All I am saying is let's make the home field a home field advantage. I've been a football fan longer than many of you have been alive. This is not complicated stuff and was taught to me when I was knee high to a grasshopper. And ya, I was ticked when I clearly heard loud crowd noise during plays by our offense.

I honestly think that all season ticket holders should be given "instructions" on how to be a good fan of their team. It seems that a majority of our fanbase needs to take remidial fandom 101.

As to TK who keep complaining about the offiense, I don't get it. We had no AJ, Casey may as well have been out, and by the way we were playing the best D in the league over the past few weeks. They are on an absouloute roll and didn't even allow a first down until almost Q4 against Baltimore. The Texans scored 7 on the opening drive, and should have hung 27 on them but for a rare miss by Rackers.....and you are complaining and saying you were bored? ROFLMAO.

WTF??????????????????????????????????????????????

Its actually kind of cool to have the subject of the wave as the most heated debate on here, rather than how bad the team, and coach sucks, lol. That's when your team is actually doing something good. I could get used to this.

I'm not complaining about the offense, I'm complaining about the bland offensive play-calling. run, run, pass, punt. All I'm saying is mix it up a little bit... run, pass, pass, punt. Pass, run, run, punt....

It's not difficult to get my attention.

If you want to know how a home team crowd is suppose to be while their team is on offense, watch the Colts at home. You can literally hear Manning calling out the plays and the audibles at the line. Everybody in that stadium that is a Colts fan is quiet while Manning is at the line. When the defense is on the field, loud as hell....

It is truly crazy just how quite their crowd gets when Manning is working the offense....

This is an interesting point because Manning relies on vocal ability at the line more than any other QB in the NFL. And how many false starts did the Colts of old get on the road? I'm actually curious because they were such a well coached team recently, that I wonder if their road vs home penalties were different. Just counting back the last 4 years, the Colts are 25-7 (3x 6-2, 1x 7-1) at home and 24-8 (1x 4-4, 2x 7-1, 1x 6-2) on the road. The "quiet" at home didn't seem to make much difference, although its difficult to analyze in depth without knowing the line spreads for each game.

But a 1 game difference is not a statistical significance. Especially when you consider that the Colts play in a dome and indoors, and how much that aspect of home field probably means to them.

Good "Colts pump in fan noise" and see how much respect you have for their fans after that. They're notorious for creating a false sense of fandom

Seriously, 150 posts because the fans at the game did the wave??

Really????

I was watching the game on TV and I never noticed the wave or a lot of noise while the Texans were on offense till I read it on here.

Seems like some are making a mountain out or a molehill. Guess you have to have somthing to complain about - with the Texans winning, some sure have to dig deep to find something.

I have been to a hell of a lot of stadiums and the results have been consistent. I have never seen a crowd yelling loudly when their team had the ball..... never to the degree of noise that crowd was making on Sunday. I can always hear a pin drop when their guys have the ball....

Lol, well I'm pretty sure we've been to the same games in the past and I distinctly remember the fans doing the wave.

We probably have. I think that I hooked you up with a tailgate one time in DC.

I didn't post that opposing fans did not do the "wave dance". The issue isn't the "wave dance", it is the crowd noise when your offense has the ball.

Default Re: the wave

I apologize on being ignorant to some of the facts that may be posted here on the subject, I didn't read through all 8 pages about the wave, but I just wanted to add my two-cents:

First off I think with all the complaining Texans fans do about this team not being elite, if there is something a fan can do to help this organization. Do it.
That being said, it greatly helps the offense when it is dead silent in the stadium while they're putting together a drive. Then, with all that pent up energy the fans can scream their heads off when the D is out there. I can't count all of the times I've seen Schaub squeezing his helmet trying to listen to the play on an intense 4th quarter come-back. Those are the times when the fans need to be the most quiet.

So in regards of doing the wave. Personally, I think it's lame. But who cares about my opinion. What everyone should care about as a fan is to be SILENT when the offense is out.

Just sayin'.

I've see it at college games, but do not recall it happening much at Texans games.

Speaking of baseball, I have yet to figure out when you're supposed to yell. I've see it when the Astros were playing both offense and defense, and for the life of me, I still can't figure out the logic. It's so simple with football...

BTW, for the pro-wave folks, I'm not calling you lesser fans by any means. I just like the idea of fans being a true "12th man" for our defense, because any competitive edge - even the slightest - is cool to me as a fan, especially being a small part of it. But, for it to happen, it has to be opportunistic, and the defense has to respond accordingly. Bad defenses cannot be made better by the crowd. That much I know for certain.

It's not difficult to get my attention.

1. what we were doing was working. 21 pts (shoulda been 24) thru 3 q's against a stellar D. sorry if winning football bores you. you mightnt enjoy the rest of the season

2. ask the ravens how being pass happy v the jags goes for you

3. i already told you the offence had been mixing it up throwing on 1st down on two of the 5 plays on the td drive before the wave & throughout the 3 q, which shows up your 'protest' rationale as pure bs

Peyton Manning. THE Peyton Manning. Gee I wonder why people have more respect for Peyton Manning and the Colties....let's see here....why......hmm.....

I'm all out of ideas.

I seriously love this. I'm going to start a wave every drive lol....

NoFunLeague

If it was wrong, then why did it feel so good? And since this is literally everyone who was at the game that WASN'T waving...where are the 70,000 or so who were?

Alright I'll compromise. I'll start a wave at the beginning of every defensive stand so it doesn't offend the other 80 people who weren't doing it to begin with. In fact, we'll coordinate with someone from the other side, we'll do it at the same time, both clockwise and call it the Texan's Tornado. The goal is to start it, get it going and then get everyone to keep it going and also to keep going faster and faster until it's just a big wooshing, swirling, angry chorus and everyone is up and cheering for a big 3rd down stop. It will be an undeniable stamp. The cherry on top of this renewed defense. An identity. It will be awesome.

Oh yeah, how come we don't do that? Because let's face it, we're not THAT good of a fanbase. We don't have a simple J E T S JETS JETS JETS chant. We're not known for being loud or...on time. Our fanbase doesn't encompass much territory. We've got no songs (I don't count whatever that fuuutbaww tiiime in hyyoouuuckston crap is). We have a team name which describes a heavy portion of the people playing the game and yet have so little success to show for it.

There was a wave. Then there was a wave of tears. I'm out on this thread. Unless it goes another 20 pages...............................

I think the vast overwhelming majority of people here get it; when the home team has the ball, be quiet. For the handful of yall that winning football is not entertaining enough and/or you want to “protest” the offense, here you go:
If you want the team to run the ball and they pass it: lead everyone in the macarena
If you want the team to pass the ball and they run it: the locomotion
If you want the team to go for it on fourth down: the YMCA
