Along the sidelines? Yeah, but he still got his hands on the ball and should have caught it.

Wow I'm not a JJ fan but he's played pretty freaking good so far. It was an underthrown ball and the DB got his hands on the ball to. Could of been caught but would of been a very good catch.

If Jacoby can carry over his last few games when AJ comes back, he'll be a solid 3rd option. We still need that #2 though and future heir to AJ.

There are throws that a WR should catch. There are throws that a WR shouldn't be expected to catch. Then there are a whole range of balls in between that good WRs manage to fight for and come up with their fair share. JJ is not a good WR. He can come up with the ones that he's supposed to come up with, for the most part. But how many times have you seen him make a play on the ball? He doesn't attack the ball. He doesn't do the things that good WRs do. And in his 4th year, he is what he is.

I guess the Ravens game taught him a lesson. He caught a week
of hell for that. One of the Ravens said "ol' boy choked."

I like Jacoby...
I want to pull for him... But eria hit it on the head...he doesn't fight for the ball. Doesn't really act like he wants the ball thrown his way--see AJ, and when it does get thrown his way, he doesn't act like he's really all that concerned with making a play. He's an average NFL receiver at best. Many people hope that he's gonna "step up" and fill the AJ gap in his absence. He doesn't have another level to step up to...he's maxed out. Not hatin' on JJ...I've got an autographed 8x10 of him hangin' on my wall, next to my chair. I like the guy.

JJ is a body catcher. He waits for the ball to come to him and then catches it against hist chest/body. That allowed the DB to get a hand in there as the ball was arriving. If he were a hand catcher, he could have reached up and snatched the ball out of the air before the DB had a chance. AJ is a hands catcher and challenges the DB for the ball by going up and getting the ball rather than waiting for it to get to him. That is a hugh difference in how well a receiver will do.

Moving forward

Schauby was way off today. I would not put those on JJ or any of the other receivers. I grade Shammy at a D today and the receiving core a B for digging out some bad passes.

Jacoby had a great game today. He was beating both Cox & Mathis like they stole something. Matt was just spreading the ball around too much (if you can spread it around too much). Matt was also pressured more in this game than he was in the Titans game, probably threw him off some.

On the 28 yard pass play to JJ in the 1st Qtr, JJ does a great job selling that he was going to block on the play.. Matt Play-faked to Arian.... Cox fought JJ to get inside to stop the run..... JJ skipped past him, turned around & plucked the ball out of the air. With his hands.
Then turned it up fields for 15 yards or so.

JJ is average, had a decent game today, but he can't go one game without having mistakes.
Braylon Edwards would've been a big upgrade to him.

I don't think it was so much of Schaub being off. They went deep more than I've ever seem them do. Hard to have a good completion percentage on the deep stuff.
