Trust CC, we skipped DJ for a reason.
For Example, last year. Remember when everybody and thier mother was screaming about trading up to get Sean Taylor. If that would have been the case, we would have probably lost our second and fourth pick as well to get him. what would be the results... No Dunta Robinson Year Team G Total Tckl Ast Sacks Int Yds Avg Lg TD Pass Def 2004 Houston Texans 16 87 73.0 14 3 6 146 24.3 61 0 13 Year Team G Fum Lost Fum Forced Own Rec Opp Rec Yards Tot Rec TD 2004 Houston Texans 16 0 0 3 0 0 0 0 0 No Jason Babin Year Team G Total Tckl Ast Sacks Int Yds Avg Lg TD Pass Def 2004 Houston Texans 16 63 51.0 12 4 0 0 0.0 0 0 4 Year Team G Fum Lost Fum Forced Own Rec Opp Rec Yards Tot Rec TD 2004 Houston Texans 16 0 0 0 0 2 22 2 0 No Glenn Earl Year Team G Total Tckl Ast Sacks Int Yds Avg Lg TD Pass Def 2004 Houston Texans 12 44 36.0 8 0 0 0 0.0 0 0 0 You would have gotten this instead. CC might just know what he is doing! |

And for those of you who dont think Sean Taylor is going to be the best safety in the league in 3 years, you are crazy. This video gets my heart pounding and I am not a redskin or sean taylor fan. He is a bad MOther: Sean Taylor |

that video was pretty sick but you could also put a video together of Dunta and it would get me just as pumped. I am happy with our selection, and I trust in our management.

Yeah, you guys did do the right thing, don't let the reaction fool you.
DJ isn't this pansy "can't take on any blocks" linebacker that people made him out to be, but he just wouldn't work in your defense when taking on blocks in an every down thing

I wonder if there was anyone else we were hoping would drop other than Williamson or one of the three backs. Were we big on Ware and/or Merriman? I wonder....

Next draft we are going to try to pickup a franchise LT. We will probably need a replacement for Walker and Coleman. That extra 3rd next year is huge right now. Especially if NO has a terrible year. I just hope we could get another 3rd for Glen.

and Ware & Merriman would be OLBs in our D and since it looks like they are gonna go with Peek this year (and they certainly like Babin on the other side) - but both of these guys are young. On the other hand, 2/3rds of our DL starters are on the downhill side of 30 and riddled with injuries. |

Ok let's just be honest here Babin is not the 2nd coming of lawrence taylor so what we would have lost in a trade up for sean taylor is him or dunta period. Both whom will be great players. I'm not even going to speak on glenn earl since clearly we are still seeking a SS in this year's draft.
Sean Taylor will still be a monster and Dunta will still be a smother em like gravy on biscuits CB. I don't think we could have gone wrong trading up for taylor or drafting dunta. My preference at the time was Dunta. However I'm not the owner just a fan like the rest of you and we all have our players we'd like to see on our own squad. |

Let's be more honest.
Babin is a converted DE. LT never had to make a transition from DE to LB. Babin's putting up decent numbers in his first year at a new position, so he can meet our expectations. It takes year or so to fully recover from a blown knee. Reference: Edgerrin James, Willis McGahee That said, this is the year that we can get an accurate measurement of how good Glenn Earl is. He was already turning out nicely at the end of last season, so it's not that big of a deal. If we drafted Taylor, we would have had a pair of 30+ year old corners who have lost a step. Entering this year, we would be one year removed from a now-proven corner and one year away to see if Rogers/Rolle/Jones would ever pan out [and if they don't.... playoffs will have to wait longer than expected]. Also, I'm pretty sure no one likes a first round draft pick to hold out one year into their rookie contract that they signed and approved. |

Of course nobody likes if there players holdout but you know what if i'm a rookie i'd holdout too. Look this is a business and its about MONEY. You have to get the most guaranteed money you can get up front. You don't know how long you'll be in this league point blank.

Tell me this.
Why aren't Jonathan Vilma, Dunta Robinson, Michael Clayton, D.J. Williams, Steven Jackson, or Kevin Jones holding out one year after their rookie season? They're all drafted lower than Sean Taylor, they're all making less than Sean Taylor, they all did 10x more for their team than Sean Taylor, what gives Sean Taylor the right to demand a better contract when he has not done as much as those other first rounders? Getting a raise in the NFL is like getting a raise in the workplace. You have to prove yourself with exceptional work. What has Sean Taylor done? Just some drunk driving and looking pretty. |
