1. Jacoby Jones HOU

With Andre Johnson out, the Texans needed a hero. What they got was Jacoby Jones. They threw his way 11 times. He caught the first one for a 9-yard gain on third-and-2. The next eight fell incomplete, including three third-down balls. Then Jones drew a defensive pass interference flag to convert a fourth down. (One wonders why the Raiders even covered him, let alone made contact.) Jones' next target was incomplete, and finally he was the intended receiver on Matt Schaub's game-ending interception (although Jones is not penalized for the interception on that play, just the incompletion).

That PI call to convert the 4th down was kind of shameful. There was contact, but it was in no way enough to cause JJ to fall down. He flopped like a euro soccer player. That play pretty much summed up his play for me. AJ gets mauled worse than that on a regular basis and just goes out and makes plays. KW fights through contact like that, plays physical, and even initiates that physicality in blocking. JJ just flails his arms out wide and flops.

You could see the team was mentally soft the way they were not playing through contact and begging for calls - especially Jones and Dreessen. It is a cancer, but it is expected when there is no leadership on the field or on the sidelines. The script can only take the drama class so far.

I had forgotten that play, but when you mentioned "the flop" I knew exactly which play you were talking about.

It really is baffling why Kubiak is keeping this guy around. One could be led to believe that the coach has taken a personal liking to his player and is blinded by the sentiment of their relationship.
