Tate needs to grow as a player

There's no doubt Tate's a good runner, but as anyone who follows the Texans knows, you have to do more to get on Kubiak's A-list.

Keep your eye on Tate's development in this area. In addition to the technical aspects of pass blocking and being able to recognize blitzes, etc., this is where you also get into the psychology of player development.

Sometimes the difference between a good player and a great player is how well the player is able to take coaching and handle criticism on Mondays. Ask Foster.

If Tate maintains the right attitude as Foster re-enters the picture, and he shows that he's willing to do whatever it takes to become a complete player, then it's all good for him and for the Texans.

Nice job as usual from Alan/AJ. Tate is essentially a rookie, having never taken a regular season snap before this season. Solid yet unspectacular with decent inside power game to complement Arian Fosters big play ability. I feel Tate will replace Ward as Texans #2 while Chris Ogbonnaya proves his case to be #3. How Kubiak compares Ben to Arian also tells me that Foster IS in Texan long range plans & a shiny new fat extension will be hammered out sometime in the very near future. For the time being, Tate must continue to carry himself like a NFL veteran even though he is really just a rookie while developing a complete package of skills, blitz pick-up, down field blocking, receiving, recognizing his cut back lanes & oh yeah, finding the end zone more often would really help too.

As always, the usual caveats apply. This is a baseline for the league as a whole. Play calling is never as simple as just run or pass. There are many different types of each, but it can be useful to look at play types as a whole. Additionally, there is some amount of bias in the data. Teams that are good in passing would be expected to pass more often, and teams good in running would be expected to run more often.

Simplify - need to target Andre at least once, a TE along with at least one run & one pass to a RB

Or why not just do as the Saints do and just call the same play over and over again until you've won.

What? That won't work against other NFL teams?
