Default "against league rules"?!?!

I noticed on the 506 website it says the Texans game can not be shown in Dallas due to league rules. Does anyone know more about this? I am thinking maybe that is way we could see the Saints- Texans game, since Dallas was playing on Monday?

When you are at home, you only get one game on each network. For example, in Houston we'll get Texans/Steelers at noon on CBS, and a 3:00 game on Fox. Last week the Texans were on the road and we had 2 games on Fox and one on CBS. Since the Texans are at home this week, we get no doubleheader on either network. Same for Dallas this week. They get one game on each network, 1 at noon and 1 in the afternoon.

Since the Dallas game is noon, same as Texans, they can't have the Texans game. Fox will show the Dallas area the Cowboys game at noon, and they have to take the CBS game at 3:00.

I noticed in week 2, both Dallas and Houston were on the road playing at 3pm. Dallas showed NE/SD instead of the Texans, and Houston showed the Saints game instead of the cowgirls. Did this have anything to do with the rule or was it more what they thought people wanted to see?????

Even when the Cowgirls are on the road, and the two teams are playing at the same time, I do not remember seeing both games on at the same time.

That's close, but not quite on. When you're at home, the network broadcasting your game (CBS if the Texans opponent is AFC, and Fox if they're NFC) is the only network allowed to broadcast in your market at that time. Essentially what this means is any time the Cowboys are playing at the same time the Texans are playing a home game, they can't show Dallas in the Houston area.

That doesn't preclude getting two games on the network broadcasting the Texans if that weekend's double-header happens to fall to that network. For example, this weekend, because CBS has the double-header, Houston will get three games during the noon/3:00 window. After the Texans game CBS has the Broncos v. Packers while at the same time Fox shows the Giants and Cardinals.

That may have been just a case of not wanting to put the Cowboys and Texans up against each other. That happened in Houston week 2. Both Houston and Dallas played the late game and instead of the local affiliate here showing the Cowboys game up against the Texans game, they opted to show the early game on Fox (Chi @ NO) against the CBS early game (Jac @ NYJ) and let the Texans be the only game on at 3:00. Sounds like the affiliates in Dallas did the same thing.

Ah, that must have changed then. Of course, I'm going by when the Oilers played here. I have never been home on a Sunday when the Texans are home so I guess I wouldn't know.

It was a little different. What Houston did makes sense, but what the Dallas station did makes no sense.

In Houston, Fox choose an early game so they would not have a game going up against the Texans game at 3. Dallas CBS still choose a 3pm game. For whatever reason they probably thought SD/NE (Rivers vs Brady) would be a stronger draw than Texans vs Dolphins. I see it as more of a lack of confidence in veiwers wanting to see the Texans
