Romo accuses Redskins defenders of cheating

Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo blamed the Washington Redskins for the problems he had fielding snaps from center Phil Costa in Monday night's sloppy 18-16 Dallas victory. Costa snapped the ball a number of times before the quarterback was ready.


Romo accused Redskins defenders of yelling out their own snap count, attempting to fool Costa, according to ProFootballTalk.com.

"We've got to get the snap thing worked out," Romo told reporters after the game. "We'll get that worked out. We'll tell the league and see if that's something that can be fixed because you're not supposed to be able to do that. So we'll see. But we can't have that happen. We shouldn't have been in that situation."

NFL rules prohibit defensive players from making "disconcerting signals" by pretending to call out the quarterback’s cadence.

If I'm on the Redskins defensive roster I'll remember this when Miss Romo visits DC later this year and will be prepared to sacrifice a game check from the helmet I was going to imbed in his face. If he and his center had better communication there wouldn't have been a problem. ISHT like that is why he'll NEVER been a Championship QB.

You learn in middle school that simulating snap counts on defense is both illegal and chicken****.

The Skins already were going after Romo this last game anyways.

Its a Mike Shannahan coached team, the dude is the king of dirty play and cheapshots.

Yes it is illegal...

BUT, you cannot tell D-linemen not to talk...

Players do all kind of stuff that is technically against the rules--Linemen hold all the time....Olinemen leg whip...DB's subtly grab jerseys...WR's shove off to make catches...None of that is legal, but as a player you try to get away with little stuff so that you can give yourself an edge...

What good players do is find a way to win despite the opposition doing things like that. People will cheat in life...either you will stoop to their level and hope you don't fall victim of "the second man always gets caught" or you just man up and beat them within the rules.

That's funny. During the game, I only saw him yell at Costa after a bad snap. Not once did I see him say anything to the refs. Maybe he's trying to back track his attitude to seem more like a team leader.

Exactly. Not just Romo, but one of the linemen would have said something to the refs or said something to Garrett who would have said something to the refs. I'm sure if that was really happening, the refs would have heard about it before the game was over and paid closer attention to it.

Stop the lame Ass Romo hate. The guy has been a warrior. You are taking the quote out of context. Costa told him the linemen were doing this. He is sticking Up for the guy. Costa later said it was his fault. Even the Skins Dlineman are responding to Costa. Also, the Skins DBs announced they were going for his ribs before the game. So another threat in DC won't matter.
