he's from the pittsburgh metro area so good for him to be back home and still playing.. hope he catches a break and makes it as I think he can be a matchup nightmare if he ever gets on the field.

It is all very strange. I hope and pray that everything is ok. Based on his tweets, he seems happy and excited to be back home and playing for the Steelers.

Former Texans TE/WR Dorin Dickerson has "apparently" quit the Steelers' practice squad.
The Steelers signed the local hero to the practice squad as a tight end Monday. Dickerson practiced Wednesday only to leave the team Wednesday night or Thursday morning. It's not clear yet if Dickerson is walking away from the game altogether. Sep 15 - 1:16 PM

It appears he was injured during a practice, and dropped from the practice squad. Seems kind of straight forward for all the misreporting, no comments and denials going on, so maybe there's more than meets the eye.
