1. This offense has unlimited potential. The playcalling, the design, the execution, it's a beautiful thing to watch. Anybody who has anything blatently negative to say this soon after this win needs to take themselves and football way, WAY less seriously. Yeah, they let up. I guess a thirty point win isn't good enough for some folks.
2. The defense is capable of great things and we're seeing some it. The pass rush is sick, the forced fumbles, the effort, the confidence...very nice. As long as the 2ndary realizes their coverages they'll be golden because there isn't much time to throw these days!! I'm not saying they'll juggernaut everyone like this but it's sure nice to see them playing as a unit AND maximizing individual talents. A cohesive group. Who knew? 3. The Colts should be embarrassed with themselves. We all know Peyton is pretty good (and we're all aware that no t.v. analyst will mention the score without mentioning his absence) but it's shameful how good he makes the people around him. I mean....if 1/3 of your offensive gameplan is line up 3 or 4 wide and run a delayed handoff up the middle, that's just some weak sauce. Taking some easy, minor success to lose the overall battle (a.k.a. doing it the whole game and scoring 7 points) is just losing play calling. KERRY COLLINS?!?!?! Get real Polian. 4. I cannot wait to see this team against some real competition. This is gonna be a fun season!!!! |

1, Do it again. Sorry, just want to see an entire season worth of "potential" realized before I start doing handstands.
It's an awesome thing to watch though when they're clicking. 2 Absolutely agree. The defense can become our strength and when you think about that it just blows your mind. Now lets see them do it again. 3. To hell with the Colts. I know Manning is incredible but it's dumb to construct a team around one guy who makes it all work. Your offense stops clicking the minute he goes away. Your defense is designed to play from ahead because you got Peyton Manning. That's just stupid. They deserve everything the get this year. If Caldwell is any kind of coach they will adjust in some fashion but if they stink like this week after week then he and his staff are frauds.

Got them a Lombardi... and possibly an interception away from a 2nd.

Just like every other team, we've got things to work on. We weren't perfect, but (& I'd like to quote Bob McNair on this), "We're headed in the right direction."
Good win. We looked like the team we thought we were against the team we thought they were.

Kerry Collins normally looks better than this against us. Dec 22nd @ Lucas Oil. it's going to be a helluva game. Say that reminds me, play-off tickets cost the same as regular season tickets right? I mean the face value will be the same?

The Texans did what they are supposed to do, if they are the team we think they can be, and that is beat down a bad team. Right now, the Colts are a bad team.
Felt good walking into that stadium with confidence, and then having the Texans make good.

Paul Kuharsky over at ESPN had the same argument. It's terrible logic that goes like this: "Hmm. Building an entire team around one player is bad, but it worked in this case, so it's ok."
That makes NO sense. At all. Someone in Indy was so caught up in "the moment" that they lacked vision and foresight, and dropped the ball. They should have been planning for this moment, or at least building up both of their lines. Did it "work" for Indy? Yep. It did. But, so what? What's their plan moving forward? |

I prefer the Patriot model. When Bledsoe went down, Brady stepped up. When Brady went down, Cassel stepped up. If you do your job, "the system" will work just fine, thank you.
But back to topic... The game was a thing of beauty with a couple of flaws. Like Halle Berry with a big zit on her nose. I ain't kicking her out of my bed, but we're going to Wal-Greens to get something for that zit.

The Colts also used to draft spectacular players...who have they drafted in the last 2-3 years that has blown up?
How 'bout special teams? Manning set a nice tone and Jacoby's run was electric! Hartman has nice kickoffs but needs work punting. Although I will say it's nice to see a punter who kicks it 40 yards when he accidently shanks it instead of kicking it perfectly....40 yards.... How 'bout James Casey? Vonta who?! How 'bout Cushing making plays and big hits?! How 'bout the secondary actually making things harder for an offense? Mario made 2 sacks, his trade value has never been higher! Seek trade immediately! If Collins is still in one piece I give him big ups on toughness. He got murdalized. How 'bout Ryans looking a little trim and not a little slow?! How 'bout Quin all over the place?! How 'bout Kareem Jackson not making a fool of himself?! WHAT SAY YOU?!?! |

Yeah, how many other quarterbacks have started as many games in a row as Manning? He's been lucky to go 14 years without missing a game.

They were a Marlon McCree fumble away from not having one.

I don't think the colts are as bad as we made them look today. I don't think they are the worst team in this division.

Collins/Young out...... Hasselbeck in..... looks like an upgrade to me. The Colts D looked like the same Colts D that's been beating us for the last 8 years. & I think Collins will manage to beat Tampa Bay, Kansas City, and Cincinnati in the next three weeks. Maybe Peyton will be back in the saddle by then.

I think Peyton has made that coaching staff as well as the entire receiving corps and o line look spectacular. I think it's a testament to Manning's ability.
But, yeah, if you put all your eggs in one basket, bad **** happens when you drop the basket |

One thing that became abundantly clear today is the extent to which Manning calls the plays and runs the offense. There is obviously a drop in talent between Collins and Manning, but the Colts' offensive play calling was completely atrocious and the pace was slow. The Colts would benefit tremendously just putting Peyton in the booth this year if he is unable to play.

This time.... I don't really know if we know.... you know. I mean there were two early turnovers inside their 20....... we jumped up on them early, I'm sure that knocked them out of their game plan. Then Jacoby popped them for 6....... They didn't have a chance. Adai gained like 5 ypc, but they had to abandon the run.... We'll see how they do next week at home against Cleveland.
