Edwards, who had been with the Minnesota Vikings, was one of Atlanta's prime targets in free agency. The Falcons made a play for Charles Johnson, but he elected to stay with Carolina.

The Falcons have been in a win-now mode since trading up in the draft to get receiver Julio Jones. They made it clear they wanted to add an explosive player on defense as well.

Nice move for the Falcons. Still think last year was fool's gold, but this is definitely a step in the right direction.
