Michael Crabtree to miss weeks

San Francisco 49ers WR Michael Crabtree (foot) could miss four to six weeks of training camp and the preseason. The injury that kept him out of player-led practice in June is more seriously that was previously believed or reported. The exact nature of the injury is unknown.

Crabtree had surgery to correct a stress fracture in his left foot early in 2009. He reinjured the same foot on June 6, the first day of a player-run minicamp. San Fran was in the running for Chad Ochocinco before the vet was traded to the New England Patriots; they were seeking a potential starter to replace Crabtree if he isn't ready when the season begins.

Unless the 49ers sign a veteran, Josh Morgan is likely to be the No. 1 receiver in training camp with Ted Ginn Jr. as the No. 2.
