aj reports that Capers was on the radio this morning and the Texans were in 5 DB sets in 44% of their defensive plays last year.
So.. when we go into a 5 DB set.. who do we take out? I mean.. I assume, if we didnt have Buchanan, a 5 DB set would be:

Coleman, Earl, Glenn, Robinson, and Faggins

but now that we have Buchanan, will we it be:

Coleman, Glenn, Robinson, Buchanan, and Faggins?

or will Earl replace Faggins there?

Just wondering if we are gonna see alot less of Faggins now.

So what would our line-up be? If I had to guess, I would say:

Walker, Payne, Smith
Babin, Greenwood, Wong
Glenn, Robinson, Buchanon, Faggins, Coleman

Looks like we're going to be seeing less of Glenn Earl...

I didn't hear the interview but I would guess that next year 5 CB's would be Buchannon, Glenn, Robinson, Faggins and Sanders. 1 FS (Coleman) would be on the field most of the time and Glenn Earl would probably come off. This would be dependant on down and distance.

I imagine that Earl and Faggins would split playing time. Earl on running downs, Faggins on passing downs.

Faggins will probably be the dime corner. Earl will see plenty of time on the field and most of it will be driven by down and distance.

I for one hope Blu is right. I think the Corners were no the Texans problem. It was a lack of pass rush. When you arre at the bottom of the league each year in sacks it is going to make it tough on your corners. We all know that Andre isn't much of a threat when Carr only has a second in the pocket. If Blu is right I know Lavar isn't too happy in Washington right now.

Makes sense...I wonder if we're going to mainly be using dime sets or 3-3-5 sets?

I would imagine. Nickle will be:
Coleman (FS), Earl (SS), Glenn (CB), Robinson (Nickel - on the slot), and Buchanon (CB)

Dime will be:
Coleman (FS), Earl (SS), Glenn (CB), Robinson (Nickel - on the slot), Faggins (Dime - on the second slot) and Buchanon (CB)

Default good deal

i like the move to add buchanon, but why put d-rob in the slot after the year he just had playing opposite glenn? I say put buchanon on the slot because he has more speed and the slot is typically a more speedy receiver who runs more complicated routes. On blitzing downs, i'd say put robinson in the slot, but that's all. I think d-rob has better coverage skills than buchanon and he's about to catch glenn. That's just my opinion on the matter, i'd like to hear some feedback from everybody else. With the 1st round pick, do you think we go barron or one of the hybrids available in the draft? Like a merriman or ware, anyway, that's it for now, later.

Robinson played the slot all of last season...When we went to nickle packages, Glenn played LCB and Faggins played RCB with D-Rob in the slot to take advantage of his pass rushing ability...

He has played the nickel from day 1. The Texans put him there for his blitz skills on the slot WR.

Default my bad

being in Dallas, the only plays i normally got to see D-rob make were the highlights on ESPN, which were typically the picks he made on the outside or him blitzing from the slot, which is what i made the reference to, I only get to see a handful of Texans games, which makes me sad , so i appreciate you guys slapping me and giving me that info, i'll try to keep up more next season, well, that's all for now, and by the way, from what i've seen, the Texans are way better than the cowboys, who by the way i get to watch every single week. , but soon enough i'll be able to afford Sunday Ticket and see every game the Texans have to offer , well, that's all, talk to y'all later.

our ability to cover is going to improve our pass rush.. especially with the speed we have been adding to our LBs. OLB MAY not even be a hole anymore because Peek may be able to start for us now that we have the improved coverage ability. Though we will have to see on that.

So.. really.. where does that leave us with a hole?

We signed bradford back.. so WR really isnt an issue anymore. Would be NICE to IMPROVE our WRs.. but it isnt going to hurt us if we dont. We still have DD Hollings and Wells so RB is not a hole.. but again it would be NICE to IMPROVE it.

Basicly.. we have no holes.. just places that it would be NICE to IMPROVE.

I would say we just gave ourselves a good chance of grabbing the wildcard this season.

Wonder how our secondary would look if we drafted Davis to play LB ..Think of our coverage skills then

You know in essence we'll be putting 5 CB on the field with Glenn, Robinson, Buchanon, Faggins, Coleman. Coleman may play Saftey, but he's really a CB. Talk about down field coverage, now if we could only bring the....HEAT!

Hey, all I gotta say is, this is more a make or break season for Harrington and the Lions than it is Texans. If you look at Lions, they have their RB, you have 2 1st round WR'ers in Rogers and Williams, you also got Kevin Johnson in the slot, you got one of the best DT's in the league in Rogers, you have Boss Bailey and Teddy Lehman at LB, you have Bly and Bryant(solid) at corner... if ya'll dont make playoffs this year - I feel sorry for Roy Williams =[
