When the lockout comes to an end there's going to be a short window (A week to 10 days) to sign FA's, UDFA's, draft picks.

The successful teams will have a plan in plan in place and the guys they bring in they wont let leave the building without a signed contract. Since this is not how BoB, Gary and Rick have done business in the past. Their track record for being proactive isn't good.

Am I right about being worried?

Concerned but not worried. To be worried it would be a scenario where Smithiak and Wade Phillps want to convince McNair to open check book for Nnamdi ASomouha. Now you can worry, cause I'm not sure Bob would rush for his pen.

A lack of realistic planning and "negotiations" will always lead to poor outcomes and subsequent actions necessarily taken under impending emergency. The Texans have this unrealistic attitude that "All things come to those who wait". Well, we're still waiting. But good free agents won't.

Negotiations must begin on the basis of what is realistic to the free agent. If you know that it is not realistic to the organization, then don't embarass yourself, and just stay out of the game. If anyone believes that free agents don't talk amongst themselves about "You should of heard what that team had the gall to offer me!.............Can you believe it?!!!", then he is damn naive. Teams create, develop and carry their own reputations...........sometimes like a Scarlet Letter.

Of course, I'd love to see the Texans pursue Dawan Landry if the CBA shakes out in such a way that it's a possibility. However the Texans are all but a lock to spend their big free agent dollars on a cornerback. They'll make the proverbial "competitive offer" to Nnamdi Asomugha, and he will laugh uncontrollably. They'll pursue Ike Taylor, and hopefully fail, because Taylor has free agent bust written ALL OVER him. Perhaps Carlos Rogers or Johnathan Joseph will be the guy. The point is, there isn't going to be enough free agent money to get a top-tier caliber safety and a cornerback good enough to give this secondary some real improvement.
