This will be my last Mock before the draft. Please let me know what you think. I really enjoy putting these togetehr, so I would love to hear all comments, positive and negative. This will only be a 1 rounder.
1. 49ERS Aaron Rogers QB Cal 49ers take a blue chip QB prospect to rebuild 2. DOLPHINS Derrick Johnson OLB Texas Dolphins can pick up a RB in FA or via trade, so they take the best player in the draft. 3. BROWNS : Alex Smith QB Utah The Browns need a QB for the future. Yes they signed some stop gapers, but not a potential face of the franchise. 4. BEARS: Braylon Edwards Bears get a big target for grossman. Braylon will compliment newly signed Mushin very well. 5. BUCCANEERS :Ronnie Brown RB Auburn I happen to think that Ced Benson is a better back, but with his combine, Ronnie Brown leap frogs Benson. 6. TITANS: Trade 6 and next years 6th to TEXANS for 13 and 47, and next year’s 3rd rounder TEXANS Select: Mike Williams WR USC In a surprise move, the Texans jump up and take the best WR in the draft. Can you imagine a Texans team with Carr in the pocket looking downfield and seeing Mike Williams and Andre Johnson?! 7. VIKINGS: Troy Williamson WR South Carolina They get their WR and a damn good one at that. 8. CARDINALS: Cedric Benson RB Texas The Cards need a RB, and are ecstatic to pick up the best back in the draft: Ced Benson 9. REDSKINS :Antrelle Rolle CB Miami (FL) They lost Smoot, but pick up the best CB in the draft. Not bad, Gibbs. 10. LIONS :Shawne Merriman OLB-DE Maryland The Lions have spent the last couple of years building up a good receiving core. Now a big Defensive playmaker is just what the doctor ordered. 11. COWBOYS: Marcus Spears DE L.S.U. Spears is the BPA and a good fit for the Cowboy D. 12.: CHARGERS: Trade 12 to PANTHERS for 14 and 115 PANTHERS Select Pac Man Jones CB/KR West Virginia Chargers jump up and piss off the Chiefs, who had hoped that Pac Man would fall a few spots. 13. TITANS: Alex Barron OT Florida St The Titans have McNair’s replacement, a rb, and young talented wrs. They need a good strong O-lineman and they take possibly the best one available. 14. CHARGERS: Trade 14 to NY Giants for Next year’s #1, and number 43 New York Giants Select: Cadillac Williams RB Auburn The Giants get a stud rb to compliment Eli 15. CHIEFS Carlos Rogers CB Auburn Lets face it, the Chiefs NEED D like nobody’s business. This is a great start of a key draft for KC. 16. SAINTS: DeMarcus Ware, DE, Ware has been climbing on a number of boards and the Saints pick him. He will be a good pass rusher that the Saints could use. 17. BENGALS Heath Miller TE Virginia Easily the best TE in the draft. Palmer is still coming along as a QB and with a deep threat like Chad Johnson and a sure handed short pass target in Miller, Palmer will make big leaps this season. 18. VIKINGS: Thomas Davis, S, Georgia They were thinking Defense, and found a LB/S hybrid that will help their defense a lot. 19. RAMS Jammal Brown OT Oklahoma This is a no brainier for STL. They need an offensive lineman like nobody’s business, and he is the best one available. 20. COWBOYS Mark Clayton WR Oklahoma Dallas picks up the WR they wanted 21. JAGUARS Dan Cody DE-OLB Oklahoma Jags take the best DE left and improve a really scary looking defense. 22. RAVENS: Roddy White WR U.A.B. The Ravens end up being the lone man out, again. Last year they almost got TO, this year they almost got Clayton. So they take White and are pacified 23. SEAHAWKS: Erasmus James DE Wisconsin When you are often injured but have a lot of talent, you drop, but you are still going in the first round. 24. PACKERS David Pollack DE-OLB Georgia Some mocks have him going higher, so GB should be happy to get him. 25. BRONCOS: Travis Johnson DT Florida St Hard to say what Denver should do, but it Travis is available, they should give him a good hard look. 26. JETS: Khalif Barnes OT Washington They could use Oline help, and take the person some people consider the best OLman in the entire draft. 27. FALCONS: Matt Jones QB/WR/TE Arkansas What can you say about this pick other then, he will spread the field for Vick. Oh, and the Falcons can now play the single wing offense: who knows who is the QB and who is the receiver! 28. CHARGERS: Matt Roth DE Iowa The other “Matt” of the first round goes to the Chargers. Some people might be disappointed, but he is a good value pick here. 29. COLTS: Justin Miller CB/KR Clemson Suddenly the AFC south is getting some big WRs (like the Texans!) so they get a CB to cover some of them 30. STEELERS: Marlin Jackson CB – Michigan They have a glaring need at CB even if they sign Ty Law. 31. EAGLES: Darryl Blackstock OLB Virginia They could use an OLB, and take the best one available. 32. PATRIOTS: Brodney Poole S Oklahoma Pats always go BPA, and he is the BPA right here. TITANS Trade 6 and next years 6th to TEXANS for #13 and #47, and next year’s 3rd rounder CHARGERS: Trade 12 to PANTHERS for #14 and #115 CHARGERS: Trade 14 to NY Giants for Next year’s #1 and #43 |

I really hope we don't give the Titans more picks to help them reload quicker...IMO if DJ is gone, there is no way we trade up, especially if it's for Mike Williams, who Cass isn't very high on...I don't remember exactly what he said about him, but it was something along the lines of "future TE" if I remember correctly...

i would not happy with m. williams at the 6 pick. i have been enamored with ced benson the whole off-season and would be thrilled if we could get him, whether that was a trade up or not.

Word on the streets is that the 'Phins are going to take Alex Smith if they stay at 2...It may just be a ploy to get Tampa to trade up, though...

I'll tell you strait up that Casserly will pass on Williams if he is there at 13. No way he trades for him. Casserly doesn't have Williams as very highly rated.

"TEXANS Select: Mike Williams WR USC
In a surprise move, the Texans jump up and take the best WR in the draft. Can you imagine a Texans team with Carr in the pocket looking downfield and seeing Mike Williams and Andre Johnson?!" I dunno... sort of a modern day football version of the Rockets "twin towers" of Olajuwon & Sampson. Its really an intriguing combination that would be impressive on the field together. |
