In regards to this years draft I would like to see the Texans trade down and pick up some extra picks. Having said that if I were the G.M.(and lets thank god I'm not) I would:
Trade #13 to St. Louis( Rams looking for Barron here) for the #19 and the Rams second rounder. I would then send the St. Louis 2nd rounder and the Cowboys 3rd rounder plus our 4th rounder to Denver(who is looking to trade down for cap reasons/depth) for the 25 overall pick. That would leave us with #19 overall, the #25 overall, the #47 overall and the #78 overall with that I would like to see something like thison the first day. DEFENCE FIRST #19-Demarcus Ware OLB -destructive force the D needs. #25- David Baas G/C -The anwser to our problems at center. #47-Matt jones WR -I believe with the amount of good receivers in this draft he will still be here at 47. #78- Defensive line depth (best 3-4 linemen left) possibly Castillo or that guy who smoked the pot. or OFFENCE FIRST #19- Mark Clayton WR -undersized but fast with great hands and agility #25- David Baas G/C -10 year starter (see you latter McKinney) #47- Channing Crowder - great vision player( sideline to sideline speed), great attitude. #78- D-Line depth or CB if still quality guy availible to take over for Glenn after a year or two. Well there it is what do you think? What would you do if you were the GM. Keep in mind the points for picks when making trades. It would be nice if someone could post the point board for me thanks I could not find it. Last edited by canadiantexan; 04-15-2005 at 04:46 PM. |

I like the first scenario better, but it's growing increasingly likely that Ware won't slip out of the top 15...25 may be too early for Baas, but I wouldn't complain of we got him...If we had those picks, I would take:
19. David Pollack, OLB 25. David Baas, OG/C 47. Odell Thurman/Crowder/Barrett Rudd, whichever is left 78. Wesley Britt, OT I realize we don't have a WR in there, so maybe you could replace #78 with Jerome Mathis out of Hampton...

I also tend to think Ware would be gone in that spot, and Jones is sneaking into the first rd. I'm also not sure that we could get the Stl 2nd rounder in a weak draft. Things like this are not static. What passes for a good value in one draft becomes a poor one in the next. If they offered the 2nd, I would jump all over it though. I'm thinking that this year, it might be a 3rd. It's all just speculation at this point. I am anxious to get to the real deal!
