I don't think Spears falls to 13.

I wish Browner would be availiable in the 5th, heck I would be happy if they took Browner with one of the thirds.

[quote=Sarg01]What if there's no one worth the #47 on the board?
Then you trade down pick up the extra 2nd or 3rd and make sure you get O-Line help, someone like Baas/Brown, after you package a 2nd and 3rd. |

We need to accept that there's really only one O-Linesman worth taking at #47 and that's David Baas - but he probably won't make it that far. He could easily go late-1st round. Are you suggest we "Babin up" (but from a lower starting point, so pay more) into the 20s just because we HAVE to draft OL in the second?
Chris Spencer or Logan Mankins would be next on my OL target list, but they're much better picks in the 60s than the 40s. |

Boley is an interesting prospect. I'd be interested to see where we put him. He'd have to add some more weight to play ILB for us, but he'd have to adjust to a new position if he was used as a safety. I agree that he'd likely be around in the 3rd too.

I thought the concensus was that Boley is too small to play LB in the NFL and he'll most likely move to safety...Why would we take two CBs, but no OGs or Cs?

In a league with so many teams running so many different schemes there is always a team willing to experiment with a player like Boley. Alot of NFL teams wouldn't have moved Boulware back to S, but it worked out well for Seattle. I think he could excell as an OLB in a 4-3 scheme or in a Tampa 2. They're always looking for quick atheletic LBs that can cover and blitz. He might be too small to play ILB in the 3-4, but then again the Texans might be willing to give up some size for greater speed and quickness. Personally I'd prefer having Davis at ILB for us if he somehow fell to the 2nd, but that's just a pipedream.

I would take a center or guard in the second.
I really like Spears at DE. As I have mentioned numerous times in other threads, I think he is going to be an ideal 3-4 DE. As a rookie he can backup Walker and Smith keeping them fresh while also coming in on passing downs to improve the pass rush from the D-line. In the future could become a Richard Seymour type player. This draft has 2 defensive players who I think can really make a difference with the Texans........Derrick Johnson and Marcus Spears. If both of them are available at #13 take Johnson. If neither are available trade down. |

Boley is going to be a good player, but not a 2nd round talent.
I would die if we drafted Boomer Grigsby (yeah, you guys know my feeling on this guy), Liam Ezekiel out of North Eastern and Jordan Beck out of Cal Poly Thats right. 3 1-aa guys. All straight up hitters, I'd love to see each of them in a Texans uniform UPDATE: Just popped in the highlight tape I got from Boomer...started drooling...fastest hardest hitting white man on earth. |
