Seneca Wallace is one of the fastest QBs in the NFL he is a Freeagent with Matt Lienart most likely not to return.
What do you guys think of him as a 3rd QB and being used in a WildCat type formation? A formation with Wallace, Foster, Tate, Owens, Casey, and Johnson. |

Kubiak has never liked the Wildcat and it's pretty played out at this point. Wallace is an OK backup, but I doubt what the Texans are looking for.

Adding the Wildcat to the Texans is more likely to confuse the Texans players than the opposing team. To incorporate the Wildcat, it usually means you have to attach a significant time to practice. And a significant time to practice in order for it to be worthwhile requires the Texans to utilize the Wildcat to a significant number of plays per game to make it work. The Texans and Kubiak will not want any significant "system change", nor would I expect them to. They've got enough to address this season in the O as far as making it more consistent.

I am by no means sugesting drastic changes in the offense or scheme Just thought it would be a fun topic to talk about. Philly had a wildcat type set and did not overly use it in games couple plays a game gives other teams DC more to prepare for

The last thing the Texans offense needs is the the Wildcat. The Wildcat is for teams that have bad quarterbacking. No way I want Schaub lined up as a wideout with some goof taking the snap. Stick to what we do.

.........and more for the Texans to prepare for, when they haven't tended to consistently be properly prepared for a "total" game as it is.

Right, in a Wildcat, the QB is lined up as a WR and someone else gets the snap. The Wildcat is pretty much done as a formation. It was great as a surprise, but now everyone prepares for it.
If you want to catch teams off guard, I say bring out the Pistol, Wishbone, and Wing T!

Shouldn't it be called the 'Wild Bronco' or the 'Wild Toro'?
Either way, we would need to bring back Chris Brown to run it, and that ain't happening.

I think overall the Texans offense isn't missing "trickery" in it's arsenal. I think it's more "consistent play from quarter to quarter". The scheme seems fine and can put up points on a lot of different styles of defense that is currently played. I would much rather them go after a backup QB that they don't have to change the offense around for. A pocket passer with maybe a tiny bit of quickness but accuracy is obviously valued much higher than fleet of foot.

Quiet people think that "Wildcat" is new.

Not saying that I would like to see the Wildcat in Houston, but I do think Seneca Wallace would be a better option as a backup quarterback than Orlovsky.

It would be nice to get a wiley vet backup QB that could at least be expected not to "lose" a game if called upon.

Wildcat is good for teams who lack offensive fire power. We are not that team. We need to improve a few aspects of our O, but it's far from the problem.
