Default Lots of 2011 NFL Draft Early Entrants

Should expand the available talent pool to some degree.

Quote:
Jan 19, 2011 - We already knew they were headed to the 2011 NFL draft but the league made official on Wednesday the 56 players that have applied for early entry into the draft. "Each of the 56 players has met the league's three-year eligibility rule and each has submitted a written application in which he renounced his remaining college football eligibility," the NFL said in a statement.

The list includes many of the prominent names we've been hearing about since the college football season ended including Clemson's Da'Quan Bowers, Auburn's Nick Fairley, Missouri's Blaine Gabbert, Georgia's A.J. Green, Alabama's Julio Jones, Arkansas' Ryan Mallett, Auburn's Cam Newton and LSU's Patrick Peterson.

There were 56 total players this year compared to 38 in 2002. Last year there were 53, up from 46 in 2009.

The NFL draft will be held starting with the first round on Thursday, April 28 and continuing on Friday and Saturday.

Wow, really surprised about Jerrard Tarrant. He's a supreme athlete with a lot of upside, but he is extremely raw, and hasn't really settled into a position between CB and S.

He's definitely someone I'd take a flier on in the later rounds, but I think one more year in school could have benefited him tremedously.

Javes Lewis?

Wasn't he a backup at Oregon this year?

NFL draft scout has him rated as a 3-4 rounder.

I guess I underestimated (his) potential.

There are a lot of guys who could have become better players had they stayed in school but I guess the allure of $$$$ is too much.
