If I'm posting old news, my apologies
Link: http://www.houstonprofootball.com/ Rolle Call? For the second time in the last seven days, the Texans showed heightened interest in a player that probably won't last to their thirteenth overall selection in the NFL Draft. Cornerback Antrel Rolle visited the Texans in Houston on Thursday according to NFL.com. The report comes just one week after the team hosted Texas linebacker Derrick Johnson at Reliant Park. A first-team Associated Press All-American, Rolle's physical play and work ethic at the University of Miami earned him the Atlantic Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Year Award for 2004. If selected by the Texans, it would mark the second consecutive year that the team drafted a cornerback with their first pick. Dunta Robinson of South Carolina was taken tenth overall by the Texans a year ago. General manager Charley Casserly has shown prior interest in Rolle. Interviewed on ESPN790-AM, he said that he had personally scouted the Hurricane prospect on a couple of occasions, including both a practice and a game. As a Texan, Rolle would be able to breathe a sigh of relief. He was quoted in a recent interview on the league's official website saying that Texans wide receiver Andre Johnson, a teammate of Rolle's at Miami two years ago, was the toughest player he faced in college. Johnson was the Texans' first round pick in 2003. |

well the other thing it would give us is a physically demanding corner...someone who terrel owens couldn't even push around...d-rob and glenn are undersized corners who play with a lot of heart...rolle is a physical corner who can be just like mcallister up in baltimore

I like Antrell and would love to have him. With him and D-Rob I dont think that wed have to worry about a weekness at CB for a very long time. D-Rob would definitely help him adjust to being a rookie(him being one last year) and Glenn would have another CB to place under his wing and teach like he taught Dunta, and we all know how well that turned out.

Rolle is a player that Casserly covets, trading up is a possibility he would make a great addition to the team and set the corners for the next decade.
you know its kinda of funny as we get closer to the draft the cream really rises to the top and Antrel Rolle is the elite CB of the group. at 6' & 210 he can deliver a bigger knockout punch on safety blitzes to the QB than anyone & get there in a hurry, he is also a lock down cover who can blanket the bigger WR's & adjust to the ball. he also reads the QB and formations very well is solid in run support & would add another playmaker to the Texans defense. |

This is a portion of their mock:
12. San Diego Chargers (from New York Giants) – Alex Barron/OT/Florida State 13. Houston Texans – David Pollack/DE-OLB/Georgia 14. Carolina Panthers – Mark Clayton/WR/Oklahoma 15. Kansas City Chiefs – Antrel Rolle/CB/Miami, Fl 16. New Orleans Saints – Carlos Rogers/CB/Auburn 17. Cincinnati Bengals – Heath Miller/TE/Virginia (*) 18. Minnesota Vikings – Khalif Barnes/OT/Washington Anybody here think we would pass on Antrel for Pollack? I don't think we will have a shot at Rolle or Rogers. As I freely admit I am just a casual observer but I believe CC will work some kind of trade for an extra pick and end up with Barnes from Washington as our first pick. No logic or reason, just a gut feeling. Link cac:

Maybe AJ has been pushing and encouraging Casserly to trade up for him, but AJ is quiet so who knows. Maybe if Rolle did come to the Texans he could get AJ to become a leader and motivate the rest of the offense.

the only other thing about rolle that i like better than any of the other corners in the draft is that rolle also has the ability to play reciever...the guy is a physical freak with tons of talent...he can be like champ bailey in the since that he can work with the recievers to make them better and then come in when he's needed

Do you actually think Dan Cody is worth a top 10 pick?

Rolle is a top guy for sure. However, isn't he expected to "Mature" into a safety? Not that that would be a bad thing for us after coleman leaves.

My thoughts on this are that if we plan on making the secondary a force in this draft (which is one of many paths we can take) we'd better do it with the best guy there. Houston has too many immediate needs and I think Rolle "seems" to be the best guy there and someone who could possibly step on the field immediately. There are not many other people that could fall to 13 that you could say that about.

Washington will take Rolle if he is there and Tennesee might take him at 6.
But, it will cost us our 2nd (or both 3rds) to move up. So, we would have to trade with Tenn at #6 to get Rolle: (#6=1600 points; Texans Picks, Pick# Point Value, 13 1150, 47 430, 73 225, 78 200, 108 78, 142 35, 173 23.2, 204 10.8) So, Tennesee deal: #13, #47(or #73 and #78), and #173 for #6 Supposedly, Tenn is interested in Barron (who should be available at #13), so a deal could happen (if Barron is gone, then it means another player slid so they get good value anyway). If AJ (and the coaches) think that Rolle will be that kind of stud (or if they think a MWilliams/DJ/Merriman could be) then that is a deal that could and should be made at a fair price. Seem like it would benefit both teams. |

I think our trading partner will be Minnesota at #7... and we'll make a deal with them if DJ, Rolle, or RBrown is there. |

If DJ or Ronnie Brown were available at 7 and Braylon Edwards and Mike Williams were gone, the Vikings would just take DJ or Brown and not worry about trading down...
