I know I'm Cowboy fan here and most don't care or hate them but I like posting things in NFL just to show that I am paying attention. I know Jerry has issues and this is why. This is why I think Jerry got it right with Garrett but will screw it up. I like the attitude but you sound like "learning your lesson" isn't in the vocabulary...comments within

On why fans should buy in now after only seeing one playoff win over the last decade:

"Well, I have in my mind, I've used up any benefit of the doubt collateral we had with winning three Super Bowls years ago. I don't count those in terms of any gratification at all. I think if you would look at how much we shove out there. We do so more than anybody in the National Football League. We're designed so that if we don't win, it kicks a lot of butts, including mine the most. So, if anybody has an incentive to do the things that it takes to win, to try to get it right every time, whether it be a personnel decision with a player or coach, we got that incentive. It would be madness to sit here and not try to find the very best football player in the draft or the very best football player in free agency. So, I always look to the incentive plan. Are we aligned? Is it logical that we can step up here and go? I know I get criticized a lot. And a lot of people say, 'Well, go get football guys.' Have you seen the turnover in those guys? They are as rampant as the coaches. And then you've got a real quagmire. You've got a GM-type, quote football guy. ... which is the Bill Parcells types or the Mike Holmgren types. ... We've got a system that if we can get a few things right and not turn the ball over right before the half and start that thing going. On why he doesn't become one of those hands-off owners that hires a GM:
"Well, let's just be real clear. It's tough to win a Super Bowl. And I will admit to you that I'm going to look real bad most of the time when we don't because I don't layup. I hit across the water to get to the green. And that's risk taking. And so, when it misses it can miss looking bad. ... To hit on this thing it takes a lot of things happening right.

(So winning multiple ones by the Pats means nothing to winning one your way?)

On if training camp will be only at one location next season:

"I think you've got a right to look at anything we did last year and say, 'Why don't we change that?' Because it didn't work last year. I've gone from a white car to a black car. I've gone from going in one door and out the other at the place to going in a different door. No joke. Did that have anything to do with the problems we had and why we're sitting at home while others are playing in the playoffs? I don't think so. The most traveling that we've ever done, the most moving around ... we won three world championships during those years. And we went all over the world during our training camps. So, I know you can win by traveling. It isn't necessarily the reason you win, but you can win by traveling."(You don't get it)

He sounds like the next Al Davis. Aloof, confused and unable to get to the root of the problems (mostly him...). He needs to change how the organization is run and get a real GM.

I share your pessimism.

Reading that piece just seems to confirm that Jones with his illogical convoluted reasoning is likely suffering from an uncompensated form of bipolarity with its accompanying delusions of grandeur. And any Cowboys fan that buys into this reasoning shares his delusion. They will be the same ones that are convinced that if they position their earphones or the volume on their radios "just right" when listening to Jerry's statements, or maybe click their heels 3 times and repeat after me "theres no place like home," then all will make sense and be good to go for the next season.

No kidding, go get a (new) GM. If the Cowboys has a GM who talked like that he'd have probably been fired some time ago.

As they say, it's just a "stream of consciousness". And I don't think he's nuts,
he's just very self-centered and totally consumed with thoughts about winning a championship for his team, his alter-ego. Probably a lot more owners than we realize are like him, but without such an extravagant personality.

I grew up with the Cowboys being my favorite NFC team. I never got the memo that Oilers fans were supposed to hate them. Usually, kids get that stuff from their dads. I guess my dad and his dad were pretty ambivalent towards them.

I never had the same level of fandom for them that I had for the Oilers, but I always followed them. I went to college in Denton from 93-97 and listened to the Ticket all day long, so I rode through all the highs and lows with them.

Jimmy Johnson set the blueprint for rebuilding a franchise as soon as they won that Super Bowl in 92. Jerry Jones set the blueprint for tearing it down as soon as he fired him. I've tried to be a fan ever since, but Jerry's made it hard. Even after he hired Parcells, he still sabotaged him by bringing in guys like Terrell Owens. Once Parcells was out, so was I.

Jerry will never win a Super Bowl by doing it "his way." He's had 16 years of on-the-job training. If he was ever going to win one, he would have done it by now.

I feel for you, Frog. Being a Cowboys fan is like watching a 4 month long version of "The Titanic" every season. You always know how it's going to end, and it's always bad.

Honestly, he sounds like most of us here. The only difference, is he's the owner of an NFL football team, & we suck at Madden.

We think our ideas are right.... 100% of the time would have worked if Jerrah, McNair, or whoever, would have done what we said........

As long as we can find someone on a message board to agree....
