I think the Chron broke that story this am. I am happy it's not the Brian fellow that was being discussed as DB coach but I wasn't exactly expecting to snag a few of the Dallas coaches. Feels dirty.

Wade's guys with Koller has past experience working with Wade. At least Wade knows them makes much more easier to control them as DC.

Former Cowboys coach Wade Phillips has expressed an interest in becoming the defensive coordinator for the Houston Texans.

If that happens, it's believed he will make a run for at least two members of the Cowboys coaching staff _ linebackers coach Reggie Herring and secondary/safeties coach Brett Maxie.

There are a lot of moving parts here. But let's add Miami's Todd Bowles, who will interview with Jerry Jones Wednesday, to the mix and play this out.

Say the Cowboys decide to hire Bowles as defensive coordinator and Herring leaves for the Texans at a later date. The club could plug interim defensive coordinator Paul Pasqualoni into Herring's spot. Pasqualoni worked with the Cowboys linebackers for two years when he was on Bill Parcells' staff.

Will all of this happen? It's too early to say. But as the Cowboys go about restructuring their staff, they are not the only ones who will have a say in what shape it takes.

Herring was the Texans LB coach in 2002-2003. Maxie has a pretty good resume, and entered the league as a rookie DB under Phillips in New Orleans.

Neither have any connection with Kubiak. So, that's a plus.

I heard Boob McNair on the radio this morning, and he said that a) the new defensive coordinator (Phillips) would determine what changes needed to be made, and b) that the defense would get new players from free agency and the draft.

In other words, Kubiak can sit out this year's combine, too.

Didn't Frank Bush get the same sort of discretion when he first came on and they picked Cushing, Barwin and Quin in the top half of the draft ('09 I believe)? This seems like deja vu with a new DC coming in and basically getting "free reign" over all things defense.

Next thing you know Phillips is going to say he wants to have an "aggressive" 3-4.
