Default FOSTER Just Another Example of Texans Underachievement

You think I was just kidding............Think again.

Foster believes there's an encore in store
Lofty goals won't change for rushing champ

Quote:
Despite leading the NFL in rushing and establishing a name for himself, Texans running back Arian Foster believes he will still have doubters next season.

"They'll find a way 'Oh, he's just a one-season wonder,' " Foster said. "And that's what you've got to love about people they sit in their comfortable little chair and judge. But that's OK just keep blowing on the fire; they ain't putting it out."

Even with all that he accomplished in his first full season, Foster said he actually underachieved he was hoping for even more impressive numbers from the start.

"I set out goals at the beginning of the season," said Foster, who finished with 1,616 rushing yards and 18 touchdowns. "But I wanted 1,700 yards and 15 touchdowns."

While he achieved his touchdown goal by having 16 rushing scores and two receiving, he was disappointed in the remarkable yardage total. After leading the league in five offensive categories, Foster said he'll set similar goals for next season.

Foster's season-finale performance of 180 rushing yards on 31 carries Sunday gave him a league record for rushing yards in a season by an undrafted player. If there's anyone who has dealt with doubters, it's Foster.

"I set my goals high and even told some people in my close circle, and they were like, 'Um, OK,' " Foster said. "But they weren't with me at 5:30 in the morning. I'm not just blowing smoke I work hard for what I do."

As Foster cleaned out his locker on Monday morning, he called the monumental season "bittersweet" because of his team's losing record. But as he had done after nearly every game this season, he gave the credit of winning the rushing title to the offensive line and fullback Vonta Leach, who cleared paths for him and will join him Jan.30 at the Pro Bowl in Hawaii.

"It's obvious that it was a collective effort," Foster said. "I get all the attention for it, but I'm just happy that the guys really rallied behind me, because this is as much their accomplishment as it is mine."

Awww. Their record may have been only 6-10, but it was a feel-good, happy 6-10.

underachievement due to being held back by his HC....

Nothing Foster can do when Kubiak takes the ball out of his hands and Kubiak did that quite a bit this year...

AJ has demonstrated that he will dominate the opposition's secondary.

OD, is capable of the same.

Vonta and Arian seem to have the same mindset.

Vonta can be "Tim Wilson" and Arian can be "Earl Campbell+" and I'd be more than satisfied.

Arian, while lacking Earl's "Bull Power" of just running over people, can take a pass out of the backfield and rack up significant yards after the catch.

That's what I don't understand. Didn't Arian Foster get one of the most touches in all of the NFL?

He had 327 rushing attempts and 66 receptions. That's a lot of touches for one player. We don't want to run him into the ground.

A quick little scat back and reliable speedy #2 receiver or speedy slot receiver would really add alot to the offense.

right but take in consideration the Indy game in Indy where Kubiak took the ball out of his hands, the Ravens game where he only had like 5 carries the whole second half, I know they were behind but still factors, and the Oakland game where he didn't start until the end of the second quarter due to disciplinary ....He gets over 1700 yards...

True... but I was actually hoping for less touches. I wanted to see Ward be involved more. It's rare for a player to have that many touches in a season, and perform at the same level again the next season.

Thats supposed to be Jacoby. I wish we would go ahead and get rid of him so I won't be disappointed everytime he plays like *!@#, which is all the time.
Foster kicked ass this year and deserves everything he got. I will be very upset if he dosen't make 1st team, and he should be starting at the pro-bowl.

Yeah I agree about seeing Ward in there more. I also agree that we don't want to break him in 3 or 4 seasons. I think he will do as good next year. I don't think he is going to be a slaton. He dosen't have the speed to lose, and he dosen't have problems handling the football.
Atleast that was a highlight this year. I would cringe last year everytime Slaton touched the ball.

Congratulations and thanks to Arian Foster for a great season. It was very nice to have a league leading rusher. The first since Earl Campbell. Thanks Arian because you definetly played a role in our wins and in our losses you did everything possible to bring us back.

You dominated The Colts, we probably would not have beat the Redskins if not for your 50 something yard catch and run, on a bad day you still chalked up a little over the century mark against the Cowboys, you only played one half of football vs The Raiders and schooled them for two TDs, you made a critical catch and run to set up our game winning TD vs The Chiefs, we should've used you more against the Colts, you were the reason we were up in the first place against San Diego, you made runs that got us back in the Jets game, you killed the Titans, you were the main reason we came back on the Eagles, you posted a 100 yard performance against the Ravens (something RBs don't do.), definetly should've used you more in Denver, and you finished off a great season for yourself in the last game of the season.

To me all this spells "Pay The Man"

Not to say that 327=66 pass receptions isn't a lot of touches....but it's not THAT rare to see a guy sustain that sort of load over multiple seasons. As long as his production per touch is nice and nice and he says he's ready to roll.....roll.

I agree with everything you said, but he doesn't seem to ever take a lot of hard hits, IMO.
Hopefully, it will continue that way.
