Why didnt we make the playoffs last year?
What will the excuse be in 2011 when we don't make it? because we sure as hell already have the excuse this year. http://www.nfl.com/stats/categorysta...1&d-447263-n=1 |

Id like to see how the kubiak defenders feel about Wade P coming in and making us a playoff team......if we already had a great defense last yr and missed..

Actually, this is a great point. Our offense was also better last year. What went wrong? Kubiak mistake after Kubiak mistake. Kris Brown and refusing to replace him. Chris Brown and continuing to give him the ball. Those two players lost at least 3 games for us and it is 100% on Kubiak, not on the offense or the defense. Kubiak finds ways to lose even when the O and the D are running on all cylinders.

I think. Some of y'alls hatred of Kubiak has clouded your judgement
And no..we didn't have a great defense. Defense was all on frank bush

Why is that? Did Bush select all of the players on the defense? Decide whom to draft, whom to sign in free agency? Were all of the coaching hires on the defensive side Bush guys?
Does the head coach have zero input on defensive strategy, player selection, coaching technique? He's completely obsolved of all responsibility in regards to the defense? You're not the only one who sees it that way. Coach Teflon has a lot of fans fooled.

Definitely, I know that in every company I've worked, once you hire someone you're absolved of all responsibilities for how well they do their job. Once they're hired, as their manager, their performance doesn't reflect on you at all, and you are given unlimited chances to hire people who suck at their job.

But your overall point is correct. How in the world, can we have a top 5 offense, the year's best QB, best receiver, a top 10 rushing defense (13th overall) & win only 9 games? Then there were 4 teams in the AFC that finished 9-7 in 2009. The Pittsburgh Steelers, The New York Jets, The Baltimore Ravens, & yes the Houston Texans. The Steelers & Ravens are 11-4, one of those teams will win their division, they've both clinched a play-off spot. The Jets are 10-5 & clinched a Wild-Card berth. The Texans are 5-10.... last place in the AFC South. At the end of last season, I thought GK did such a good job assembling this team, that any coach could have came in here & get us to double digit wins. Even with injuries, even against our schedule, because I knew not all the teams on our schedule would be as good as they were in 2009, because I knew those teams would have to deal with injuries as well. I never thought we would lose to teams like the Cowboys (who were in disarray when we played them), the Giants (who were in disarray when we played them), the Colts & the Chargers (who were injury stricken when we played them) & Denver starting a rookie QB for the first time. The team is good enough, there's no doubt in my mind about that. You don't come from behind, 24+ deficits erased, against the teams we did just that against, with guys we picked up off the street in some cases..... if the team isn't any good. You can't do it if the coaches aren't any good either, but if your coaches were worth their salt, you'd never have gotten in those situations to begin with, at least not as frequently.... I can't for the life of me think of a reason for McNair to bring Kubiak back for another season. Not one. So I refuse to believe the rumors.

look I am not saying Kubiak is free from any criticism because he is the one steering this ship and yes Bush was his boy that he picked and it turned out bad.
so come on monday and lets see what happens

if you pull these stats up, as good as our offense is (key word is good and not great) the defense is one upping it by being just a bit worse in every stat and we are negative 2 in the turnover department

i dont know what to say to anyone who thinks last yrs offence was better cos they obviously dont really get football. yes the passing game was a little more fluent & prob more prolific yds wise last yr, esp pre-OD's injury. but in terms of what a real quality offence is- balance wise, turnover wise and RZ wise it doesnt compare to this yrs model
yes this yrs offence starts slower for whatever reason but overall theres no comparison. its pretty simple to show what cost us the playoffs last yr- RZ offence (esp running backs & oline) , turnovers (running backs) & kicker. never every game we lost can be traced to those problems. they were fixed for the most part this yr. hopefully they can fix the secondary next yr. if they do & theres some new problem that causes us the playoffs then its pretty obvious kubiak will be gone |

Well, the point is that he doesn't get the blame. The coordinators get the axe, and Coach Teflon keeps his job and gets extensions. The guy is a defensive coordinator killer.
Beware, Wade. When Coach Teflon says it's on him, he really means it's on you. Quote:

There is certainly a valid argument in there somewhere. However, last year's offense was certainly not better than the one this year. Last year we couldn't run the ball at all. This season, we have an excellent running game. I also think we are scoring more points, committing fewer turnovers, and doing against a tougher schedule. I agree that the ideal thing to happen this off-season is for Kubiak to be replaced by an elite coach. However, I think your perspective is a bit skewed. The '09 Texans had the same record as the '09 Jets, and the only reason Kubiak's team was not in the playoffs and Rex's team was in the playoffs was the fortunate way the schedule fell in place for the Jets, with two gimme games finishing their season against teams with nothing to play for.

This is the same crap we hear every year from Kubiak defenders. The guy should have been fired already. Next year the excuses will start again. Too many fans in Houston accept mediocrity as the norm. Look at this qoute from the comical: “Frank will call the defense,” Kubiak said. “Ray’s been sitting about six inches from him (in the coaches’ booth) for the last two years. Ray’s a part of what we’re doing. They’re all in it together. We’ve got to figure out a way to do better, but we won’t change who’s calling (the defense).” Kubiak throws Ray Rhodes under the bus here along with Bush and steps back like he had nothing to do with the whole mess. Then in the very next sentence Kubiak inserts himself as helping to solve the problem. |

its amazing the selective vision the kubiak detractors are suffering from these days.... keep pouncing on every tiny mis-speak by him though. way to keep the big picture in focus. he gave bush & rhodes all the credit when the D had their big turnaround last yr. better ignore that too |
