Mark Anderson

If there has been a bright spot over the last 7 weeks, to me it has been Mark Anderson. I don't know how many games he's played in but I do know that his snaps have been few until recently and he has 4 sacks during that time span.

Could it be that we may have "the other guy on the other side" now? I believe he gets to the QB far better than Antonio Smith does as a DE. I would like for him to be able to compete for a starting job next year.

I'd like to see more of Anderson as long as he can control his penalties.

Hence why he is only in there on obvious passing downs.

Can someone confirm that?

Yeah, Anderson has his fair share of troubles in the run game...too bad because he looks to be a legitimate threat as far as getting to the quarterback.
Seems to be until he gets that fixed (even though he inherited the starting position), he will continue to be a situational/pass down specialist.

That is what I have heard, I report as I have heard it, without a source nothing wrong with asking some one else to corroborate the story.

Which brings us to Mark Anderson. Anderson came into the league as a liability against the run and a good edge pass-rushing specialist. Over the last few years, Anderson has become much better against the run but has seemingly lost a step with his pass rushing. Anderson wasn't able to get it done with Rod Marinelli as his coach and with Julius Peppers on the other side, but he's still young and should still have something left physically. If the Texans are going to get something from the defensive end position, it will probably come from Anderson or Jesse Nading and not Denney or Ogunleye.

I was very excited about this pick up when we got him. I thought that he'd be able to come in and do some good things for us.

I watched some clips of him put together by Bears fans and he was doing some really good things.

Also, a lot of their fans did not know why in the hell he was released at the time. Most of the time, thats a good sign...

yep andersons been good. between him, a healthy barwin & mario, antonio and jamison we have a pretty decent stable of DE's for next yr that can rotate in and out

everytime we think we are stable at a position the texans prove us wrong. I thought we had a strong group of linebackers and wide recievers going into the season and it hasnt turned out to well. 2 offseasons ago we thought we were set at running back with Slaton leadng the rookies in rushing yards and he stunk it up last year also.
