I know it is a small thing as compared to what is happening on the field, but I was a little pissed at the roof not being open Monday night.
I would think we would like to have the image of being a "football town" at some point and have a respected franchise, and closing the roof because it is a bit chilly outside doesn't really fit in with that type of image. Monday night was perfect football weather. When you think of some of the most storied franchises, like Pittsburgh, Green Bay, and more recently, New England, you think their playing in cold and snow and their fans turning out anyway. Honestly, if I was a fan of another team, I would probably be laughing at the closing of the roof here. It just seems really puss-like. |

I was pissed. The weather wasn't that cold. And, the stadium looks nice on television at night.

Who do you think would have had an advantage with a lower temperature? I'll give you a hint: it's not the Texans.

Besides, the decision wasn't based on our opponent, it was based on some pre-determined threshold which, when met, means the roof is automatically closed. |

It was colder than last night at the Denver Thursday night game a couple years ago and it was open that night.

I believe its what made the pretty empty crowd sound louder. When Jacoby got that 2 point conversion that place was loud and I believe it forced the OT because Ravens couldn't do squat.

Maybe they wanted the roof closed to hold in the crowd noise. Just a little extra edge.

Battle red day. Closing the roof exposed the sea of red hidden under warm jackets.
It was a very effective use of our stadium.

As for noise, seeing colors, etc. no reason to work so hard, it was in accordance with the stated roof policy.

From what I saw on TV, I do recall seeing a close up of Flacco, seemingly disoriented/unable to hear instruction/play call from the sideline.
So in that respect alone, If it only screwed up a single play call for the Ravens, I'm glad it was closed. JMO |

50/80 Rule was implemented after the Pittsburgh game a few years back. It was somewhere around 46 or 47 at kick-off.

The roof was open when we got in line on Kirby around 2pm...we all wonderred, since it was 54 degrees then if it would hold to above 50 for kick off time....well it didn't.
I guess it's OK. Might well think thru the 50-80 rule, make it 40-80 maybe, better numbers anyhow. Would have been neat for blimp shot of looking down into stadium on TV

Agree, totally!! Below 40 outside the stadium isn't 40 degrees inside the stadium.
The jacked up part about the whole thing is they have to make a decision 90 minutes before kick-off. So if 90 minutes before, the forecast is for below 50, they have to pull the trigger on keeping it closed.... This is Houston Texas for cryin' out loud. You don't like the weather? Wait 10 minutes, it'll change.
