one more & we have our top 20, looks damn good if I say so myself, good job guys, now is it Cam or Mallett time, maybe one of the hybrid LB's, a corner?

Cameron Newton, QB, Auburn - 6'6 - 250
Ryan Mallett, QB, Arkansas - 6'6 - 238
Brandon Harris, CB, Miami - 5'11 - 195
Allen Bailey, DE, Miami - 6'4 - 288
Derek Sherrod, OT, Mississippi State - 6'5 - 305
Aldon Smith, DE/OLB Missouri - 6-5 - 265
Justin Houston, LB Georgia - 6-3 - 260

Corey Liuget, DT, Illinois - 6-3 - 295
Cameron Heyward, DE/DT, Ohio State - 6-5 - 288
The red shows players i think would draw the Texans interest and might be there . Having watched the Steelers and Packers , I'm thinking the ideal size for an OLB in a 3-4 is 6'2 or so . If I had my choice I'd take 6'1 before 6'5 . Also the NG needs short , stocky legs and a long thick torso . Why ... cause you bend at the waist and like the 6'2 OLB , low man wins .

So if we get our big board correct we can do something similar to what Honoring Earl 34 suggests (nice job, by the way) taking prospects in order rated straight off Big Board -

1. Marcell Dareus, DT, Alabama - 6'3 - 306
2. Robert Quinn, DE, North Carolina - 6'5 - 268
3. Prince Amukamara, DB, Nebraska - 6'1 - 205
4. J.J. Watts, DE/DT, Wisconsin - 6'6 - 290
5. Julio Jones, WR, Alabama - 6'4 - 220
6. Stephen Paea, DT, Oregon State - 6'1 - 311
7. Von Miller, DE, Texas A&M - 6'3 - 243
8. Akeem Ayers, LB, UCLA - 6'4 - 255
9. Brandon Harris, CB, Miami - 5'11 - 195
10.Aldon Smith, DE/OLB Missouri - 6-5 - 265
11.Justin Houston, LB Georgia - 6-3 - 260

So off that list , I think the players in blue are a better fit or higher priority . If Smith's 6'5 then he's a tweener IMO . Same thing with Quinn .

why not highlight JJ Watt, he projects as 3-4 end or are you suggesting Texans already set @ position?

No ... I think NG , OLB , or CB are more of a need . I guess the exception would be someone fell who was to good to be true .

Yeah, I don't think we need a DE near as much as we do LB'ers

Default Re: Big Board Thread

Hey guys and gals, I haven't posted in this thread yet but I've been following it.

I just thought I would post my top 32 in here to see how it compares to the board consensus and hopefully generate some discussion.

This isn't so much how I would rank the players based on talent as much as it is what I think their perceived value is to the 32 NFL teams (i.e. I don't think Mallett is the 9th best player in the draft but I do think he will be the first QB drafted).

1.A.J. Green – WR, Georgia
2.Patrick Peterson – CB, LSU
3.Nick Fairley – DT, Auburn
4.Da'Quan Bowers – DE, Clemson
5.Marcell Dareus – DT/DE, Alabama
6.Robert Quinn – DE/OLB, North Carolina
7.Prince Amukamara – CB, Nebraska
8.Cameron Jordan – DE, California
9.Ryan Mallett – QB, Arkansas
10.Derek Sherrod – OT, Mississippi St
11.Stephen Paea – DT, Oregon St
12.J.J. Watt – DE, Wisconsin
13.Cameron Newton – QB, Auburn
14.Julio Jones – WR, Alabama
15.Cameron Heyward – DT/DE, Ohio St
16.Adrian Clayborn – DE, Iowa
17.Mark Ingram – HB, Alabama
18.Anthony Costanzo – OT, Boston College
19.Bruce Carter – OLB, North Carolina
20.Jake Locker – QB, Washington
21.Ryan Kerrigan – DE, Purdue
22.Justin Houston – OLB, Georgia
23.Nate Solder – OT, Colorado
24.Brandon Harris – CB, Miami
25.Von Miller – OLB, Texas A&M
26.Gabe Carimi – OT, Wisconsin
27.Kyle Rudolph – TE, Notre Dame
28.Mike Pouncey – OG, Florida
29.Akeem Ayers – OLB, UCLA
30.Stefen Wisniewski – C, Penn St
31.Drake Nevis – DT, LSU
32.Rahim Moore – FS, UCLA

our top 20 does not include Cam Newton or Ryan Mallet. another Cam, Hayward you have real high, along with Castonzo & Carter. those three standout to me as end of first rd. early 2nd prospects. the rest looks pretty good, we switched Bowers to #1 & Fairley #2. really could use your input & everybody's help to finish, this is our 2nd evolution so expect a third maybe a fourth before all the dust is settled.

No way Bruce Carter goes at #19 with a torn ACL.

Ayers should be higher.

Overall good job

I would put this big board up against the Texans big board.

It's probably better than the Texans big board. LOL

What makes you think he is the consensus #1? I thought he was a 2nd round pick 3 weeks ago. But now that Luck is going back to school I feel he is bumped up middle to bottom of the first round.

I'm still waiting for more members to vote Newton or Mallett, recent drafts do have some history of QB's falling, last year Clausen, but then Denver trades up for Tebow, hence McDaniels is fired. I would like a clear objective discussion of each players merits & where they should fall.
